Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski is one step closer to a move to the Bernabeu this summer after reaching an  “agreement in principle” with the representatives of Los Blancos.

Clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea were on high alert after Lewandowski decided to part ways with his long-time agent, only to appoint Pini Zahavi who has ties with some of the most high profile clubs in Europe. The recent alliance of the player with the agent could indicate the striker deciding to move away from Bayern Munich this summer, and it seems like the 29-year-old has made his choice.

Lewandowski has emerged as one of the leading strikers in the world with his exploits for the Bundesliga giants. The striker is on the shortlist of several clubs in Europe who wish to add the Polish International in their attacking arsenal. As per Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the striker has begun the process of his move away from the Allianz Arena after his representatives conducting multiple meetings with Real Madrid over a potential transfer in the summer.  The talks have resulted in Lewandowski agreeing to sign a two-year deal with the Los Blancos with an option to extend one year.

Lewandowski is Madrid’s number one choice for the time being

Real Madrid’s unexpected decline in the league, has forced club president Florentino Perez to initiate the process of strengthening the squad over the summer. Several high profile players such as Neymar, Harry Kane, and Eden Hazard have been linked to a move to Real Madrid after the season.

But, the above-mentioned transfers are highly unlikely to occur as of now with the clubs unwilling to conduct business. Thus, the club believes that a short-term deal for Lewandowski seems the most viable option to replace Karim Benzema or Gareth Bale with both the underperforming stars speculated to exit the club after the season.

Lewandowski would be a great addition to the club since the striker will add the element of finishing which the club has struggled to accomplish in recent times. With the moves for Neymar and Harry Kane seeming far-fetched, a deal for the former Borussia Dortmund star seems the perfect option to solve the La Liga side’s striker woes.
