Casemiro defends Real Madrid forward

With Real Madrid struggling early on in the La Liga, Gareth Bale has once again come under criticism from the Madrid fans.

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has jumped to the defense of teammate Gareth Bale after the Welshman was once again booed by a section of the Real Madrid fans in the recent Champions League encounter against APOEL.

Casemiro has come to the defense of Bale

While Madrid won 3-0 on the night thanks to a brace from the returning Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale’s failure to find the back of the net yet again attracted the ire of some Real Madrid fans during the match. And Casemiro who started the match alongside Bale feels the criticism from the fans is unfair given Gareth Bale’s effort and application throughout the match despite not scoring.

“I was impressed by the performance of Bale, as you could see he was keen…You can see that he isn’t experiencing his best run of form, but what I’ll take away from this is the hard work he put in…. We know that he is one of the best at what he does. He is a strong player and is very important for us,” the Brazilian said defending his team-mate.

Hopeful that Bale would soon come good for Madrid, Casemiro added: “I hope that he keeps up this mindset of working hard because things will then work out for him one of these days, due to the quality he possesses.”

We are a family at Real Madrid

Casemiro further highlighted the camaraderie at the club saying “You can see that we are family. I will defend my teammates like they are family and will be with them to the end.”

Bale was once again booed by some sections of the Real Madrid fans on Wednesday

With Ronaldo serving a five match domestic suspension, Bale’s failure to step up in the absence of Ronaldo has led to supporters booing the Welshman yet again following a disappointing 2016/17 season.

Author’s take:

It is certainly unfair, the treatment that Gareth Bale has endured from the fans despite giving his all for the Real Madrid cause. Granted that he came with a big price tag, but Ronaldo is an out-worldly phenomenon and replicating the impact of the Portuguese superstar is near nigh impossible, something which the fans have expected since his move from Tottenham. Still, the respect and the solidarity that his team-mates have shown towards him will surely spur Bale to produce even more and hopefully, the Welsh star can kick on the back of the support from his team-mates.
