The Premier League is fast approaching its close in what’s been a scintillating season. There’s been no shortage of storylines, not least Antonio Conté’s transformation of Chelsea into a formidable title winning side. Their 4-3 home victory against an ailing Watford side only went to prove their superiority, resting nine players and still coming out on top.
Tottenham were the team that ran them closest yet still didn’t quite push them quite as hard as they maybe should have. As Spurs leave White Hart Lane and move to Wembley, fans of the North London club will be hoping they can keep the majority of their star players going into next year.
Meanwhile, it’s been a miserable season for the likes of Middlesbrough, Hull and Sunderland who have all had their relegation to the notoriously difficult second tier of English football confirmed. Brighton and Newcastle are set to grace the Premier League next year and one of Reading, Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday or Huddersfield will also be battling amongst the best next year.
There’s still the small matter of Europa League and Champions League spots to be decided. Whilst Manchester United’s hopes of playing with the elite of Europe rest on their Europa League result, Arsenal have an outside chance of an unlikely Champions League spot whilst Liverpool and Manchester City still remain in the driving seat. Everton have confirmed their seventh spot and thus a likely European slot for next year but will still be looking to go out with a bang and ruin any chance that Arsenal have going into the last game of the season.
City travel to Watford who are hardly formidable with dismal form having lost their last five on the bounce. With rumours that Walter Mazzarri could face the chop in the summer beginning to gather momentum, the players may just roll over when Pep’s army rock up on Saturday.
Gabriel Jesus is a youngster that has not failed to make an impression on the Premier League this season. His Sportito statistics make him an important pick for those looking to end the season on a fantasy high. With 11.25, 6.13 and 14.25 points in his last three games it’s clear to see why the young poacher is worth his weight in gold. His 8.48 points per game puts him in the top ten on Sportito and even leaves him above his partner in crime Kun Aguero. He’s the top rated Manchester City player by points per game and thus should be the first name on the team sheet.
He’s in good Kompany, too. The Belgian stalwart has regained form in recent games, notching an impressive 18.25 in City’s romp over Allardyce’s Palace at the start of May. He also scored 22.25 against Southampton in mid April and with his keen eye for goal he may be in for another mammoth haul come Saturday. If the Chelsea result reaffirmed anything it’s that Watford simply cannot defend set pieces. With Sebastian Prodl now out suspended, Watford are even more liable to conceding from corners and thus the skipper could well fill his proverbial boots.
Round off your Sportito selection with any two Manchester City players and sprinkle in some Liverpool as they face an already relegated Boro and you should be in good stead to end your Sportito season in a rich vein of form.
