Liverpool are an unstable concoction when it comes to fantasy football. Since the turn of 2017, they’ve taken nine points from Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs and haven’t lost. In alarming contrast, they’ve taken just one point from Swansea, Sunderland and Hull City in the same time period.

Jurgen Klopp’s dynamic high press game can be phenomenal to watch and serves them well against top opposition, hence their record against the top six. It’s when it comes to breaking down a rigid Hull back line where they’ve been found wanting and have often left frustrated.

As a man who has only been left out of the starting lineup three times this year, Roberto Firmino poses a fascinating dilemma for those looking to sweep the jackpot in a Sportito contest. After his beautiful strike against Stoke on the weekend, the Brazilian has notched ten goals and ten assists for a somewhat impressive return.

He averages 6.29 points per game but his three record point hauls all eclipse the 20-point mark. They’re the kind of points that turn a top five finish into a contest winning team.

With Sportito there’s flexibility in formation and how a team is structured. The point scoring system tends to suggest that if you can pick the players that bag a goal or more you’re likely to be well set.

With three strikers generally the preferred setup, the likes of Lukaku, Kane, Costa, Aguero, Zlatan and Costa all have solid claims to fill the coveted forward position; and that’s exactly why Roberto Firmino presents one of the most interesting prospects in fantasy football.

Although listed as a midfielder, he’s often deployed at the top of Jurgen’s system meaning he effectively acts as the focal point in Liverpool’s attack. Bar the sensational season of Dele Alli, there’s few midfielders that offer as ample an attacking threat as Roberto.

With Sadio Mane now out for the season and Liverpool finely poised to nick a Champions League spot, there’s little doubt that Firmino will play a crucial role in the run in. Roberto may just give the best fantasy players the edge when it comes to picking a point scoring from midfielder; something that doesn’t tend to lend itself to defensive minded players.

Even if he doesn’t start up top in isolation, the fluidity of Coutinho, Origi, Firmino and even Lallana means that he will never be far away from the action.

Make no mistake, it’s fast approaching make or break time in the Premier League. Klopp’s men have six games left and qualification for the heralded Champions League is teetering on a knife’s edge. Should United win their two games in hand they’ll be level on points with the Merseyside outfit, but Liverpool are only competing on one front.

With six games to go against teams weaker than themselves, there’s no reason that Liverpool can’t win them all and Firmino should feature prominently. Then again, you’d probably be more assured of a solid finish from the Reds should they be playing each of the top teams.
