Lacazette ‘not only a goalscorer’ and Arsenal linked to teenage defender

Lacazette is more than a goalscorer

Speaking after the 2-0 win against West Brom last night, Arsene Wenger praised the other work put in by forward Alexandre Lacazette. The French international scored his third and fourth goals of the league season but the manager believes he brings much more to the side than just goals.

“He’s not only a goalscorer, his link up play is good. He fights as well, he’s not fazed by the physical challenges that West Brom gave us and overall he looks to adapt very quickly and very well.”

Lacazette showed last night that he has the quality to lead the line but also the goal scoring instinct to react quickest when the ball is in the box.

Cazorla could be back in the New Year

Arsenal fans will be pleased to hear that Santi Cazorla could be in line for a return to the side from January. Having spent much of the last year out of action with an achilles injury the 32-year-old has been working on his recovery. Arsene Wenger had the following to say:

“The first signs are positive but still he has not played for one and a half years. It won’t be before Christmas. He is not in full training yet, he needs a few games with the reserve team. So I think if all goes well, it will be after Christmas.”

With his contract due to expire at the end of the season, Cazorla will be hoping to recover to full fitness and get significant game time in the second half of the season.

Arsenal in the race to sign French U18

Arsenal are one of three sides who are looking at signing French teenager Harold Moukoudi. The Le Havre defender, who turns 20 at the end of November has raised interest around Europe after recent performances in Ligue 2. Bordeaux, Nice and RB Leipzig are also amongst the interested parties who will be looking to sign the France U18 player. Moukoudi has played 12 games for Le Havre this season, nine in the league. They currently sit in 7th place having conceded only six goals, one of the best defensive records in the division.

Line up changes cost the U23’s

A series of changes to the starting team cost the U23 side as they lost 4-2 to Everton. Players such as Reiss Nelson, Matt Macey and Eddie Nketiah were likely being rested for Thursday’s Europa League tie against BATE Borisov. Arsenal got off to a good start and led at half time. With so much inexperience though they eventually fell away and lost 4-2.
