Wilshere’s broken leg, Van Dijk eyed and still no news on Wenger

Wilshere leg break

Jack Wilshere has to be one of the unluckiest footballers around with injuries. The English midfielder hobbled off while playing for Bournemouth against Tottenham at the weekend, and his scan has revealed that he has broken his leg. After the initial x-ray showed no problems, a further scan showed that he has cracked his left fibula, which is a similar injury that kept him out for the majority of last season.

Wilshere now faces a race against time to be fit for the start of next season, although where that will be is still up in the air with his contract running until the end of next season.

Wins are a must

According to manager Arsene Wenger, Arsenal must win all of their remaining games if they are to have any hope of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Wenger claimed it was a tall order and no easy task, but while it was mathematically possible, the team would keep fighting.

Lacazette wants move

Alexandra Lacazette has said he would be willing to move to the right club if an offer materialises. Arsenal have been interested in the Frenchman for a few seasons now and once again are being linked to the player. Lyon are desperate to keep hold of their star man for a season or two longer.

Tadic battle

According to reports Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are both interested in Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic. Tadic has a £13m release clause in his contract which could tempt both clubs. The Serbian has been playing centre midfield this season for the Premier League club, although he has not set the world on fire this year.

Rodriguez not coming

Reports today are suggesting that Real Madrid frontman James Rodriguez will not sign for Arsenal, due to the potential sell of David Ospina to Fenerbahce. Ospina had been attempting to persuade Rodriguez to sign for the Gunners before as the two players are brother in laws, however, with Ospina now moving on in the summer, it seems Rodriguez is now less keen to sign for the club.

Formation change

The formation change was a successful one as Arsene Wenger said the team needed to believe and focus and felt they did that with the new formation. Wenger also claimed, after shipping goals against West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace, that defensively they were struggling. The change gave the team more reassurance and Wenger added that it shows that even at his age he can still change. Message to the fans and the board there Arsene?

Van Dijk fits the bill

According to reports, Arsenal are attempting to hijack Chelsea’s move for Southampton centre back Virgil Van Dijk. With Arsenal looking at switching to three at the back on a long term basis, the Dutchman seems an ideal signing. Arsene Wenger has apparently been working on the new formation in training and has been seen as a positive change to the team. Van Dijk would cost in the region of £50m.

Arsene news

Talking of Arsene Wenger, still no news on whether or not he is staying, although according to reports Sead Kolasinac was told that Wenger would be at the club next season. We wait with baited breath.
