Sometimes Things Don’t Turn Out the Way We Expect or the Way We Hoped.
For example, in the 1950’s, scientists invented the premier pesticide, DDT which, at the time, was a boon to food manufacturers. What they didn’t know was that this ‘miraculous’ invention and the completely unrestricted use of it was going to throw the ecology of nature seriously out of balance.
To make matters worse, once they finally admitted there was a problem, they proceeded to invent a complicated series of compensations and hazards that have led us to where we are today (DDT was listed as #14 in The 50 Worst Inventions – Time Magazine).
A Prayer for Water and Health for the Earth Today
One would like to believe that we can learn from our mistakes. Mistakes can be forgiven, especially when we can admit to them and make amends. Unfortunately, the status quo wants to stay in denial and create even more intentions to disrespect nature and dominate it.
Common sense says, “Go another way. You’re following a dangerous path.”
“Nature is here to be exploited and sacrificed for the almighty dollar.”
and
“We want whatever we want, when we want it.”
Let’s offer a prayer for water – for a change of path and to dissolve the mental, spiritual and emotional patterns that keep us bound to greed and disrespect.
“I cut my ties to any hidden agenda I still hold to poisoning the water.
I forgive myself for exploiting the Earth or abusing her in any way.”
“I form a new, clear intention to work with nature and respect her resources – the water, the animals, plants, air and the elements.
