Psalm 130:5-8 New International Version (NIV)
5 I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
6 I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
7 Israel, put your hope in the LORD,
for with the LORD is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
8 He himself will redeem Israel
from all their sins.

Have you ever gone to the supermarket and been in a slow long line? There’s only one checkout lane open and you could either wait or go to another store. You decide to wait. The person in front of you has a full cart and not enough money for the purchases. This means deciding what to purchase and what to put back. Another long wait.

I’m like a lot of people, I hate to wait. When I’ve gone to a supermarket and there is only one lane open with a long line, I’ll leave. I’ll find a store with a self-service lane. There are times when we have to be patient and wait. Waiting isn’t always a bad thing, it’s a way to learn patience.

There’s an old saying, “Good things come to those who wait.” Here’s another saying, “Blessings come to those who wait on the Lord.” Waiting on the Lord has blessings that are worth the wait. It teaches us to trust him and to be thankful for all of his blessings.

The psalmist declared he would wait upon the Lord and put his trust in the Word. He looked for promised deliverance and blessings from the Lord. That’s an example of trusting faith. This is a faith that waits for the Lord and puts hope not in the promises of the world, but in the promises of the Lord. Too often, we can wait on other people and they never come through. The Lord is faithful and will always deliver on his promises. Waiting on the Lord is never a waste of time, but brings blessings. The Lord always delivers on his promises.

We wait upon the Lord like the watchman waits for the morning. This means always watching with expectation and faith. Even when we might be weary and hurting, we always look to the Lord for deliverance and renewal. He will never disappoint, but will come with his promised blessings and renewal.

Never stop crying out to the Lord. He will incline his ear and hear our pleas and he’ll answer our pleas. He does this out love and mercy for us. This love and mercy was demonstrated by the cross. The Lord won forgiveness through his blood. He has promised never to forsake his people. Through, we can wait upon and put our hope in him. The Lord will never disappoint. He will pour out his love and mercy upon us.
