THE TWELFTH STATION OF THE CROSS-JESUS DIES ON THE CROSS

THE TWELFTH STATION

Jesus dies on the cross

Jesus hung on the cross for three hours. The nails had been driven into his hands and his feet.
His body was drenched with sweat and blood, and the crowds taunted him. Jesus showed
grace and compassion to his Mother as she watched. He placed her into the care of the
disciple who he loved. With his work accomplished, he bowed his head and gave up his
spirit.

Jesus hung on the cross with nails driven into each hand.
Many people watched as darkness covered the land.
His body battered and beaten was drenched with blood.
A spear was driven into his side and gushed forth a healing flood.

Jesus, we embrace your cross where you suffered death.
On the cross, you forgave your murderers with your dying breath.
Let us place our confidence in you and behold your face.
Keep us in your love and support us by your grace.

Jesus, you died, giving up your spirit with your dying breath.
With your work done, you bowed your head in death.
The Father accepted the sacrifice you made to redeem me,
You paid sin’s price. You have set me free.
