“Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.” – Henry David Thoreau
On Thursday, Dec 8th (6pm PST) I will be hosting a webinar on the topic of Wealth, titled Unleash Miraculous Wealth and
Abundance. This is a first for me. I’ve never really touched on this subject matter in part because of the stigma associated with money (as evidenced by some prejudices against the rich, or thoughts that money is anti-spiritual.)
However, money appears to be one the most misunderstood symbols. And because of it, our special love/hate relationship with money has become the foundation for misperceptions of lack and fear. For this and other reasons, I felt inspired to take on this topic and offer my experience and tools with you.
In anticipation of the event, and as I prepare for this webinar, I felt moved to share 5 myths about wealth and money that I once believed. Held as true, these myths block the awareness of wealth. This post aims to invoke inquiry and SELF awareness. Enjoy!
Myth #1 – Wealth is having a lot of money.
Wealth is a state of being free. The desire for money is not really a desire for cash, it’s a desire for what we believe the cash will bring us.
“Understand that you do not respond to anything directly, but to your interpretation of it.” – A Course in Miracles
And what money appears to offer is an intangible sense of security, abundance, freedom and power. All of which is already inherently ours (with or without lots of money). The question is “are we aware and in the full experience of our inherent security, freedom, abundance and power?” A Course in Miracles says “You still have the power, but you have interposed so much between it and your awareness of it that you cannot use it. Everything you have taught yourself has made your power more and more obscure to you.”
Money may symbolize power but it is a myth to believe you need green paper to have an experience of wealth.
Myth #2 – You need money to live wealthy lifestyle.
On multiple occasions, and over the course of many years, I’ve lived in multi-million dollar homes and in the fanciest of neighborhoods at the cost of a studio apartment and at times for FREE! The idea that only money can afford you to live a particular “life style” is a belief that limits you to THAT experience.
“An “imprisoned” mind is not free because it is possessed, or held back, by itself.” – A Course in Miracles
When the mind is no longer limited by beliefs about money, what is made manifest and what you experience, is more profound than anything money can buy.
Myth #3 – Money isn’t spiritual.
Spirit is whole and inclusive of the entire cosmos, there’s nothing that isn’t spiritual. Believing that “money isn’t spiritual” is another ego device to create the appearance and experience of separation. It is a way, of dividing perception and misperceiving levels and differences where there are none.
Myth #4 – Money solves problems.
If you think money will solve your problems, you have a problem (for which you are unaware). Money isn’t endowed with power. If it were, the rich and “powerful” would be problem free and happy. To the confused mind, money is mistakenly seen as a means to salvation. However, money isn’t causal. All cause is of the mind, and you’re never in an experience of lack because of the reason you think. Being of the mind, all problems are mental…and based in perception. To fix/heal a perceived problem you have to know where the problem resides.
“A problem cannot be solved if you do not know what it is. Even if it is really solved already you will still have the problem, because you will not recognize that it has been solved. This is the situation of the world. The problem of separation, which is really the only problem, has already been solved. Yet the solution is not recognized because the problem is not recognized.” – A Course in Miracles
Myth #5 – The Law of Attraction will make me rich.
The attempt to make a better dream sustains the experience of dreaming and seeking. The Law of Attraction will use the mind’s power and ability to maintain a sense of searching. And there’s nothing wrong with that. However, make no mistake, miraculous wealth is COMPLETE freedom from the dream and its futile search. True abundance leaves no room for the need to manipulate form or want for anything; because everything is realized as ALREADY yours.
To the ego, the belief in these myths (and others like them) are what the ego needs to sustain a sense of lack and continue it’s chase without. These beliefs keep the direct experience of wealth obscured. As long as wealth is believed to come from the act of acquiring, the need “to get” will block the present ability access miraculous abundance.
Wealth beyond measure (an experience of magnitude), is an imaginable embodiment of abundance. It is a state of mind without problems whatsoever. It is a mind unburdened by lack and because of it, it has all the money and resources it ever needs, at all times every time.
