Kanchi Maha Periyava Jayanti

Kanchi Maha Periyava, popularly known as Sage of Kanchi, was the 68th Jagadguru of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. His birth anniversary is annually observed on Jyeshta Purnima tithi – the corresponding date as per Tamil Calendar is the full moon day in Vaikasi month. Kanchi Maha Periyava Jayanti 2018 date is May 29. In 2018, it is the 125th Jayanti celebrations. As per birth star, the celebration is on May 29, 2018 on Anusham or Anuradha Nakshatram day (The kanchi mutt follows the Nakshatra for fixing the Jayanthi date).

Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Mahaswamiji (20 May 1894 – 8 January 1994) needs no introduction. He was affectionately called ‘Mahaswamigal.’

He became the pontiff of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham in 1907.

He travelled across the country spreading Dharma and the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya.

His foremost concern was preservation of the Vedas, tradition and dharma. He advocated simplicity, shunned pomp, ostentation and extravagance. His exposition of Vedanta, Sastras and the Dharmic duties attracted scholars and common man alike.

Millions of people read follow his teachings – in the form of books, audio, video, aphorisms etc.

He is an inspiration of millions of devotees who wants to lead a spiritual life.
