Do we have a destiny?

 Do we have a destiny?

Some say no our life is what we make it. Others say we do.

I think both answers are right.

Life is what we make it to be but there is the life we were created for.

I’m going to illustrate this through my story.

3 years ago,  God revealed to me a bit of his plan for my life. I can’t tell you what it is yet because I am still growing into it.

Anyways, as I was saying, He revealed a small fraction of His plan over my life.

AND I SPARKED!!!

Because it was totally opposite of what I had in mind.

So for the next few days it bothered me and I kept asking God, “Do you even know me?”

“How can you say that this is what I am created for? How?”

I asked these questions hoping to hear that He made a mistake or He changed His mind but LOL it didn’t happen.

God continued to reveal to me bit by bit… and it shocked me.

I wondered how could I have been so off on what my calling was?

Then it clicked.

The dream I had was heavily influenced by external factors.

How?

It was mainly based on being accepted by everyone and wanting to prove myself rather than actually being me.

You see, I wasn’t the ‘strong personality’ growing up. As a result people mistook me as shy and some told me that I needed to “get out of my box” or “be bold”

And truth be told, those comments affected me to the point I felt that I had to prove myself. Therefore, some of the choices I made were influenced by me wanting to prove myself rather than me being me.

I therefore made choices that required me to be seriously vibrant or outgoing as much as I was I actually calm and reflective.

Outcome?

Distressful!!!!

What happened next?

I still followed my ‘dream’ and in the beginning I liked it. Then over time it became a serious burden and I realized that I only liked it because of the hype around it but when I got  into it I loathed it.

That was when I decided to fully submit to God’s plan for my life.

And from then on, my life has never been more fulfilled, not because things are easy and I have it all together but because God is walking with me, guiding my steps.

How can you know your destiny?

  • Seek God first

When you begin to seek God, whichever way you do, He WILL reveal His purpose for your life to you. I promise. Be it through people, experiences, dreams…

Personally, after I began seeking Him,  God started revealing my purpose through people by answering my prayers and deep questions through them.

  • Discernment

Discernment I believe is the ability God gives us to be able to distinguish what is part of our Destiny and what isn’t.

For example, there are times I like something but I feel a check or a disconnect in my spirit. That’s discernment.

The more you spend time with God and in His presence the more you are able to discern because God’s presence is in your destiny. So wherever you sense God’s presence, that is where your destiny is.

  • Meditate on God’s promises over your life

The bible is full of God’s promises over our lives. The more you reflect on God’s promises the more you believe in them. And the more you believe in them the more you begin to live by them.

Let those promises be bigger than the negative situations in your life and you will live life according to your purpose.

What if you make a mistake and miss your destiny?

According to John Paul Jackson, your destiny is like a GPS that has a specific set of directions but when you make a wrong turn it simply recalculates.

Your destiny is like a GPS that has a specific set of directions but when you make a wrong turn it simply recalculates

When you walk in God, nothing is ever lost even when we make a serious mistake. This means that destiny isn’t a fixed path, it’s a path that is constantly adjusted when we make a choice ‘out of purpose’.

The bible is full of stories of people who made major mistakes but at the end of the day God used their mistakes for good.

In God nothing is ever lost

So yeah those are my thoughts for today. If you liked this give a thumbs up.
