As you have noticed from my reviews, I have been trying out several pre-workouts and offering up my reviews here.  Today I was lucky enough to get to try out the new Green Apple flavor of C4 from Cellucor.

For those of you not familiar with pre-workouts, they are usually in the form of powders that you mix with water 30-60 minutes before you workout.  The contain such ingredients as caffeine, creatine, beta alanine, nitrates and various other ingredients to help give you a boost and/or pump in the gym.  








The Look: C4 Extreme comes in a plastic tub that uses a metallic color to give it an appearance that the container is actually metal. The front of the container list product name, Flavor, and many of the key attributes of C4. On the back of the container there are supplemental facts, instructions, and several warnings.All the colors really work well on the container and give it a very aggressive look, that I believe helps it really stand out on the shelf.

Mixability:   One thing I am learning in the world of pre-workout supplements is that mixability is not equal in all of them. Some pwos take forever to get mixed properly and some just don't mix at all no matter how much you stir or shake them. C4 Extreme so far has the best mixability of any product that I have tried. I added 2 scoops to 12 ounces of water and shook it for around 10-15 seconds.  C4 mixed completely with nothing left floating in the shaker bottle.  I also didn't have to shake it as I drank it which is something I have had to do with various other PWOs to keep them mixed.

Taste: So far all of the C4 flavors have left me impressed.  Green Apple is easily my new favorite flavor of any PWO.  The best way I can describe this is a mix between a Granny Smith Apple and a Green Jolly Rancher.  It is sweet with just a very slight hint of sourness to it.  Cellucor really nailed this flavor and I think it will quickly become one of their top sellers.

Does It Work: Within about 15-20 minutes I could start to feel my body tingling from the beta alanine inside.  Shortly after that I got a jolt of energy from the 270 mg of caffeine (135 mg per scoop).  C4 completely got my motivated to go to the gym and attack my workouts with extreme intensity.
After my workout I noticed some increased vascularity and I had a very good pump.

Ingredients: Each scoop of C4 contains the following ingredients: Niacin, Vitamin C, Vitamin B12, Beta Alanine(1500mg), Creatine Nitrate(1000 mg), and Arganine AKG(1000 mg). On top of that they also have 718mg what they label as their "Explosive Energy Blend" that contains: N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine, Caffeine Anhydrous (135 mg), Mucuna pruriens, Bitter Orange, Niacinamide, Synephrine HCL, Folate, and Pyridoxine Phosphate.
The ingredient list is very solid and they all work together well to create a very solid product.
