Interflag Visits Biztech – Makes Client Relationship Feel Real!

A hello from Netherlands…
After over a decade of rendering web and mobile development solutions to an array of customers across the globe, we have had some remarkable experiences in dealing with clients. Our experiences have taught us how to turn the most disinterested, skeptical and brusque customers into loyal and long-lasting customers. We are a customer-centric company and to keep the relationship with our customers going, we connect with them in manifold ways including emails, texts and calls. And sometimes, we also get lucky to have clients visit us. And that’s when things get real!

From 3rd August to 9th August, we had our clients from Netherlands visit us. They are the owners Interflag, a company located in Rotterdam that makes customized flags. One of the key objectives of this trip for our clients was to acquaint us with their Business operations and ensure that we had the potential to support their ever-growing business needs. Biztech has been working on Interflag’s Odoo based website for over 3.5 years. The owners of the company Robbert van der Eem and Ron Beute wanted to revamp certain aspects of their website including:

  1. Migration of their current Odoo Website from Odoo v8 to Odoo v11
  2. Revamp their current website theme
  3. Implementation of new features

Introduction and More…

Robbert & Ron received a warm welcome to Biztech’s office followed by a meeting with the Odoo team. Each member of Biztech’s Odoo team introduced themselves along with their roles and discussed at lengths about what is expected out of them while working on the project. Everyone seemed quite happy and satisfied with the recognition they received.

Thereafter, the owners presented a brief video about Interflag and the process they undertake for the production of each flag. From the way they explained about their company and the conduct that their staff follows, it was apparent how passionate they were towards their work and people. Each day began with questions and queries pertaining to the requirements and ended up with a feasibility check which brought a lot of clarity for the designers and developers.

Getting into the Intricacies of Development

Over the course of next 5 days, the Odoo development team gained deeper insights into the workings of Interflag’s website’s tool – Product Configurator as well as the shipping processes, printing operations and warehousing systems of the company. Using the Product Configurator tool, their customers can create customized flags of different types and attributes including shape, material, size, finish, direction, quantity etc. They also intended to create a feature named Artwork, which enables customers to upload files along with features they are looking for. Our Odoo developers were quite keen on developing this feature and shared their queries.

The team also cleared certain confusions pertaining to price formulas and charts. When it comes to calculating the prices, the website owners use a tool that figures out the final price based on the order. But when there were custom values involved, it gets complicated for them to calculate. They wanted us to craft tool that works based on supplier prices and enables them to add prices for the end users. Also, currently, the clients do not use barcode scanning for warehouse and manufacturing activities. But they expressed their wish to have this feature in Odoo so that they can inculcate this new process as a part of their business operations.

Each day commenced with a meeting wherein pointers from the previous day were discussed and ended with a prolonged analysis and detailed documentation pertaining to different steps to be undertaken during the development process.

The Fun Times – A Visit to Adalaj Stepwell

After a week jam packed with meetings and work, it was time for us to show our guests a little more of who we actually are! Hence, we decided to take them on a trip to Adalaj Stepwell. Also known as “Adalaj ni Vav,” it is quite popular for its Indo-Islamic design and architecture. We took a tour around the place and were charmed to see the Islamic floral craft flawlessly merging into Hindu symbolism depicting the culture and ethos of the olden times. It was quite fascinating to hear the history behind its making which entailed stories of love, hate and war.

Although we visited the place in the afternoon, we were lucky to find spots with shade underneath which; we interacted about the history and culture of Gujarat. It was truly a trip to be remembered!

All’s Well That Ends Well

At last, it was time to bid goodbye. And we certainly couldn’t let them go without having Gujarati Traditional Lunch at “Annakut!” They savored each Gujarati dish bursting with aromas and intense flavors. What excited them even more was to know the fact that most of the Gujarati restaurants are a family run business. While leaving, we asked our clients to describe their overall experience visiting Biztech and they described the feeling in one word – “Exceptional!”. We also gifted them with a personalized mug engraved with a picture of Ahmedabad city.

Not everybody is lucky enough to meet the clients in person and learn about the nuances of their business. Getting the inputs and knowledge from our esteemed guests was truly invaluable and cannot be expressed in words. Thank You Interflag, we hope to see you again!
