Stephen Hawking the Physicist and one in a million Soul, Dies Today

About Stephen William Hawking……..

Born And Early Life

Prof. Stephen William Hawking was born on 8th January 1942 in Oxford, England. He was a British scientist, professor and author whose phenomenal work in physics and cosmology, and his books have helped to make science accessible to everyone. Stephen wanted to study Mathematics but it was not available at University college where he lived, so he persuded physics instead. After three years and not very much work, he was awarded a first class honours degree in natural science.

Disability Strikes

In 1963, When Stephen was 21 years old he was diagnosed with ALS, a form of Motor Neurone Disease where nerves that control muscles were failing. He was told that he wouldn’t survive more than two years. He dedicated all his energies to work and research. In one of his interviews he also mentioned – “My expectations were reduced to zero when I was 21. Everything since then has been a bonus.”

Work And Research

Stephen Hawking was world-renowned theoretical physicist, known for his contributions to the fields of cosmology, general relativity and quantum gravity, especially for study on black holes. In the 1960s and 1970s, he worked on ground-breaking theorems regarding singularities within the framework of general relativity, and made the theoretical prediction that black holes should emit radiation (known today as Hawking radiation). He has also published several works of popular science in which he discusses his own theories and cosmology in general. In his own words: “My goal is simple. It is complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all”.

Inspiration to All

Sadly Stephen is no longer with us, but his work and dedication will always be with us. He is a motivation for all. As he once said “I am not afraid of death, but I’m in no hurry to die”.

A Man who was not able to move, or talk made wonders and also lead a normal family life, then why do some of us lose hope and accept failures ?.

His quotation will always inspire us to work without giving up. He proved Where there is Will there is Way. .

  • So next time someone complains that you have made a mistake, tell him that may be a good thing. Because without imperfection, neither you nor I would exist.”
  • However difficult life may seem , there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up.
  • People who boast about their I.Q. are losers.”

A Great Salute to a Legend. May his Soul Rest in Peace. Amin
