I have a confession to make: I’ve never ordered my own business cards. 150 years ago when I was working in the corporate world, I think at some point I had some. But I never had to get them for myself. So when I decided to finally get some this year, I started shopping around and found Basic Invite.
Let me tell you, I wish I had found them before I got married a couple years ago!
Basic Invites’ designs are super cute, with lots of customization options. They have wedding invitations and thank you cards, but it doesn’t stop there – I know it’s graduation season, and their array of high school graduation cards, thank you graduation cards, and graduation party invitations is second to none!
So what’s so great about Basic Invite? First off, samples. I love that you can order samples to feel the weight and quality of the paper and see exactly what everything looks like in real life. The Internet is convenient, but if those Amazon fails have taught us anything it’s that you don’t always know what you’re getting, right?
One of the samples that I ordered was for an anniversary party invitation for my husband and I. When we got married, we had our wedding in Cleveland, which is where our families are (and where we met). However, we promised, promised, promised all of our L.A. friends that we would have a reception out here at some point.
Fast forward a year and a half, life has gotten in the way, time has flown, and no party. Soooo I’m hoping to host 2-year anniversary party this year in November, and these invitations will be perfect! I also ordered some thank you card samples for post-party notes.
The other aspect of Basic Invite that I love is the ability to choose from an almost unlimited color database with instant online previews! I loved the color they had for the business cards, but when I looked through the other color swatches offered and saw Cotton Candy, I knew that was my true match. You can tweak your design and choose from more than 180 different color options to get your cards or stationery just right, something that is incredibly important to me.
And you can even make them shiny! There are foil cards available in silver, gold, and rose gold. I, like the rest of the women in the world, am definitely having a rose gold moment. So I’m psyched. Probably won’t be able to get those on the party invitations, but definitely on my stationery!
Back to the invitations, there’s also a huge array of envelope colors to choose from – over 40, to be specific. No plain white envelopes arriving at my guests’ houses! I, of course, would prefer pink, but I think husband will take a bit of issue with that. We’ll probably land on a cerulean blue. But either way, pretty awesome to be able to select the envelope color as well as customizing the colors on the invitations. Best of all? They’re peel and seal. No fiancées dying from glue poisoning here (it’s a Seinfeld reference).
Seriously, though, I worked in PR for a while and one of the jobs I had was sending out newsletters. I can tell you, sitting and licking hundreds of envelopes is just awful.
One of the other fabulous things about Basic Invite is that they have an address capturing service.
What the heck is that? Well, you just share a link on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and ask your friends and family to click on it and input their addresses. Basic Invite then stores those addresses in your online account, so you can select them during the design process. I don’t know if you’ve ever had to run down physical addresses from people you know, but it can be a really long process. This way, your friends and family can input at their leisure, and everything is stored online.
