Is BuyersTapp.com a Scam?

Is Buyerstapp.com a Scam? Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’re probably aware of BuyersTapp.com which has been getting a lot of attention from social media websites and news agencies lately. There have been some questions as to the legitimacy of BuyersTapp and its platform. To offer an objective view we have chosen to present information publicly released directly from BuyersTap Inc. who owns the website. Below is an excerpt from their website. “BuyersTapp is a new social media website with a marketplace based theme that allows members to buy and sell their used unwanted items without having to use a credit card or spend real money. Instead of using real money, BuyersTapp members use “Trade Credits” as a medium of exchange on the website that can be earned by creating a Free profile, listing products in the marketplace, inviting you’re friends and social media contacts to join, reviewing websites, Advertisers offers, and of course when you sell the products you have listed on the site to other members”. For all intents and purposes BuyersTapp is an online bartering system which is based off a standard of trade that has been around for thousands of years and pre-dates our current market system. Barter systems more accurately determine the value of goods and services as the value of the goods being sold is determined by what others are willing to pay for them. BuyersTapp has a unique twist to the online barter system that most users are having a hard time accepting as a valuable feature. The reason for this confusion is because it is vaugly similar in perception to your classic work at home schemes which may turn off some BuyersTapp prospects. The twist is the ability to earn “Trade Credits” on the website that you can use to buy items listed by other members. BuyersTapp allows you to earn trade credits with some reasonable methods like advancing you “Trade Credits” for listing your items in the marketplace and creating a “Free” profile. These don’t draw any red flags but rating websites, reviewing offers, and earning “Trade Credits” for inviting your friends to join can seem a lot like offers presented by “work at home” schemes or Multi-Level Marketing systems. In my honest opinion these methods are legitimate means employed by BuyersTap for one main reason; they are not the “Primary” feature promoted on the website but merely a necessary extension needed to sustain the propagation of currency available to be spent on the website to encourage trade. Another important note regarding earning “Trade Credits” is that BuyersTapp has restricted the types of offers it presents to its members and ensures that less than reputable offers are not allowed to be advertised on the website. This will add a level of credibility to the website that over time will help to ease the stigma some may place on BuyersTapp for offering these methods to earn credits on the site. Another cause of contention has come from the ability to earn “Trade Credits” from your friends signing up and using the website which earns the referring member more “Trade Credits”. This can easily be misconstrued as some type of Multi-Level Marketing or Pyramid Scheme which in our opinion is far from the case. BuyersTapp does not advertise this fact and does not promote this feature publicly. The Incentive based system was instituted to help BuyersTap grow virally by offering members an incentive to invite their friends to join BuyersTapp. One of the greatest features is that you still earn Trade Credits no matter what type of Membership plan the referral chooses. If a referral signs up for the “Free” plan like most people will initially, the referrer will still earn “Trade Credits” for them joining BuyersTapp and whenever they do anything that earns BuyersTapp Ad revenue. BuyersTapp limits the size of your down line as well so that it does not encourage you to promote the website in anyway other than uploading your email contacts or using their application to auto-send your Facebook and other social media contacts an invite to BuyersTapp that is unobtrusive and never requires you to call your family and try to pitch them on joining your get rich quick scheme. BuyersTap does not promote or claim that you will make money using the site, It’s simply a unique platform that allows you to buy and sell your used stuff without having to spend real money or use your credit online. In perpetuation of the model they have envisioned valuable ways to draw the user in and provide them with an alternative to spending money on the things they need. BuyersaTapp does not promote their site using “Gimmicky” pitches or flat out lies. To answer the question initially posed, BuyersTapp is not a scam and should be considered a valuable tool for selling your unwanted goods and buying the things you need or want in a safe, fun and innovative fashion. We look forward to watching the site grow and ad more great features in the near future. Tyler Hines Freelance writer Web Value Magazine
