Imaginative Writing GCSE English Language - Love

GCSE English Language - Imaginative Writing

This writing activity is ideal for learners studying the new 9-1 Edexcel GCSE in English Language. The resource follows part B of the Fiction and Imaginative Reading and Writing Paper.

Based around Valentine's Day, learners are encouraged to produce a piece of writing based on the theme of love. Teenagers may find the topic rather vague, so I have provided some useful suggestions on the resource for learners to think about. For example learners could write about a strong friendship, the love of an object/thing, siblings, partners, a wedding, marriage or even the birth of a child.

I have also included a reminder for learners about their considerations when writing. For instance:

  • The use of descriptive language e.g. metaphors, similes, adjectives, personification.
  • The structure of their writing - paragraphing and sentence types.
  • Using accurate punctuation throughout.
