Firstly the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an auspicious examination that every aspirant, who wants to do post-graduation in Engineering, applies. Also, qualifying the examination is the first step to admission in NITs and IITs. But their admissions to these prestigious universities is completely based on the cutoff marks of individual colleges. So, knowing about the GATE 2019 Examination is important. GATE 2019 Registration is open from 01 September and the deadline extended to fill the application form is 09 October 2018.
Important Information regarding Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering:
Exam Conducting Body: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee).
Examination Name: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
Courses & Scholarship: GATE is a necessary requirement for admission seekers who are seeking admission and financial assistance supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies.
Following are the programs are under this examination:
(i) Master’s programs and direct Ph.D. in Architecture/Engineering/Technology.
(ii) Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs in relevant branches of Science. Even many colleges and institutions the GATE qualification is mandatory for admission. which may not be supported by MHRD scholarship/assistantship.

GATE 2019 Application Procedure
- Firstly, the registration will be online only.
- Also, the candidates will fill Online Application Form through Official Website.
- Then, register on the official website.
- Further, upload a recent photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, graduation certificate (if applicable), and category certificate (if applicable).
- Also, international candidates have to possess a valid passport to apply. Rest application procedure is the same as for Indians.

Application fee can be paid through Net Banking, Debit Card, or e-Challan.

GATE 2019 Eligibility Criteria
- B.E., or B. Tech., or B. Pharm. candidates should have completed 4 Years B. Tech., or 3 Years B. Tech. Lateral Entry (after completing B. Sc. / Diploma in Engineering / Technology) in the year 2019. Final Year candidates can also apply, provided they are pursuing final year examination in the Year 2019.
- B. Arch. candidates should have completed 5 Years B. Arch. in the year 2019. Candidates pursuing final year examination in the Year 2019 are also eligible to apply for the examination.
- B. Sc. Research or B.S. candidates should have completed 4 Years Bachelor’s degree in Science (after Diploma or after Class XII) in the year 2019. Final Year candidates can also apply, provided they are pursuing final year examination in the Year 2019.
- M. Sc., or M.A., or M.C.A. candidates should have completed Master’s degree in Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent in the year 2019. Candidates presently in Final Year of Graduation in the Year 2019 are also eligible to apply.
- Integrated M.E., or M. Tech. (after B. Sc.) candidates should have completed 4 Years Integrated Master’s Degree programs in Engineering / Technology after B. Sc. in the year 2019. Candidates who are presently in 2nd / 3rd / 4th Year of above Degree program in the Year 2019 are also eligible to apply.
- Integrated M.E., or M. Tech. or Dual Degree program candidates (after Diploma or after Class XII) should have completed 5 Years Integrated Master’s Degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology in the year 2019. Candidates presently in 4th / 5th Year of Graduation in the Year 2019 are also eligible to apply.

GATE 2019 International Centres
Now GATE 2019 Examinations will go international from this session. And will be conducted in the following countries i.e. Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Dubai (UAE), Kathmandu (Nepal), Singapore.
GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS)
This process will enable the students for the following activities:
- Filling the form.
- Upload necessary documents.
- Pay the fees.
- Checking the Application Form Status.
- Download the Admit Card.
- Download ScoreCard & Answer Sheets.
- Visit the website http://appsgate.iitg.ac.in/ or access through http://www.gate.iitg.ac.in.
GOAPS Enrollment ID will be given to each candidate registering for GATE 2019.
GOAPS Password: Candidates must remember the GOAPS Password for future logins.
Important Information
Question / Exam Paper Pattern
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) carrying 1 or 2 marks each.
- Negative Marking for Wrong Answers. Whereas, for 1-mark MCQ & 2-mark MCQ, 1/3 & 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer respectively.
- Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions carrying 1 or 2 marks each. No Negative marking for NAT.
Marks Distribution:
65 questions carrying 100 marks. Out of which 10 questions of 15 marks (total) will be on General Aptitude.
(For codes such as AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT,
PE, PI, TF, and XE)

GATE Score
The GATE Score will be released after evaluation of answer sheets. The scorecard is important for admission process in various IITs etc. And The GATE score is valid for three years.
GATE 2019 Results
The GATE Result will be declared on 17 March 2019. And can be downloaded from the GOAPS website.
For now, the application form last date is extended till 09 October 2019.
