Sociocean offers a new way to network and meet others while travelling on Business. It’s free to join and we aim to make your business trips more enjoyable, productive and a better all-round social experience. In this post we take a look at Reno, Nevada in the United States.
If your next business trip takes you to Reno, you can turn your business trip into a work-away vacation! Once all the business is done, take some time to soak in the interesting culture of Reno. If you can, get away for a day or two and spend some time at Lake Tahoe! Transitioning from a business trip into a personal getaway is always a good idea. Here are some ideas to make your next business trip to Reno a whole lot of fun!
Things to do around Reno
Use your time off to have some adventures around Reno. One of the coolest places in the city is the downtown area. Here, you’ll find an eclectic mix of hipster, vintage, and ultra-modern. The buildings in the area are characterized by intricate murals, making downtown an interesting place to drive through.
Be sure to try one of Reno’s local restaurants. My personal favorite is Two Chicks, a café run by two women business owners. I enjoyed an excellent spinach salad while I was there, but they also serve hearty American classics and breakfast.
Take a Day Trip
Why not extend your business trip into a vacation? Arrive a few days early or a stay a day late, and you’ll have time to go up the hill to the greener areas of Nevada. Hit Carson City and Tahoe for some relaxation.
Carson City is still pretty dry and warm, but there are some cool things to do there. For one thing, they have the only Dutch Brothers Coffee for a long ways around, so if you need your Carmelizer fix, you can get it there. There is also a cool historic train museum to see.
Of course, you’ll want to spend more time thirty minutes away at Lake Tahoe than you will in Carson City. Head to Lake Tahoe South for a beach day. Lake Tahoe South SUP can rent you stand-up paddle boards and kayaks for a wonderful day on the lake. If you like local beer or espresso, Moon House is a great place to go. There is plenty of shopping in the tourist district, and you can find some great deals on unique clothing as well as lakeside dining.
Head to the west side of Lake Tahoe for some time to enjoy nature at the state parks and a glimpse of iconic Emerald Bay. There are many waterfalls, beaches, and old trees to enjoy here. After a long week of work, it’s great to leave it all behind, unplug, and enjoy the natural world.
You work hard, so make sure to play hard, too! Business trips are more than just an exhausting way to get work done. Take advantage of the opportunity to travel! Nevada may not seem like the most exciting destination, but you’ll find that is can be a business trip of a lifetime if you know where to go. Have fun!
