PUBG Offers Compensation for Falsely Banned Accounts

Share.

Don’t spend it all at once.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players who have had their accounts falsely banned are in for a small in-game windfall.

PUBG devs have announced that players whose accounts were “improperly banned” in their bid to tackle cheaters will be granted a “small compensation of 20,000 BP” to their accounts.

“As you know, one of our highest priorities is working towards eliminating hackers and cheaters from PUBG. We’ve made great strides in this area recently, but unfortunately sometimes we get it wrong, which was the case recently when a number of players were improperly banned and were unable to access the game for a period of time,” reads an offical update.

Affected players should already be seeing the in-game currency in their accounts, but only certain accounts that meet the following conditions will be eligible:

  • Logged into the 3.8.38.15 version between June 16, 11am – 1:30pm PDT / June 16, 8pm – 10:30pm CEST / June 17, 3am – 5:30am KST
  • Were wrongfully banned due to internal ban detection logic

PUBG has been struggling with cheaters for months, with over 100,000 banned in a single wave earlier this year, and one million accounts banned in January alone. PC content for the game was even delayed so that the devs could focus their efforts on combating cheaters.

Back in April, Bluehole announced that it had been working with Chinese authorities to clamp down on hackers, resulting in the arrests of 15 suspects for developing and selling “hacking/cheating programs that affect PUBG.”

More recently, PUBG Corp. has made the news for reportedly suing Fortnite for copyright infringement in Korea, over concerns that “Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known.”

The game hit a major sales and user milestone this week, with 50 million units sold, and 400 million registered players.
