This page contains strategies and tips for defeating the main bosses that Warren will encounter in The Surge.

P.A.X is the first boss in the game. To defeat Pax go always behind him and attack a leg to fill up the orange bar on the top. After this bar is full, Pax will fire rockets, go immediataley close to pax so that the rockets hit him himself and then attack one of three weakpoints (2 in front, 1 behind)

After some hits from you on one of the weapkpoints Pax stands up and all starts new. Repeat this 2 times and Pax is gone.

Lu-74 “FireBug” is the second boss in the game. The Lu-74 “Firebug” has 2 forms. The first form is when its in a crablike state. In order to damage this form you will need to attack its legs after it jumps and falls down from the sky. Once it falls down run towards it and perform a slide attack and hit it once. Any more than that and you risk being damaged severly.

After you have weakened its leges enough the Firebug will fall to the ground and you will have to attack the fallen leg until it breaks off. Keep repeating this and eventually you will have a little animation where you are blown back.

After this the firebug will transform into its second form. The firebug will hover around the area. It will start off with either trying to ram into you, or spinning its two arms around while flying towards you. If you get hit by these attacks you have a great chance of being killed instantly. So as it comes towards you, you need to side step out of the way. The best time to attack it in this state is to wait until the firebug charges at you not when its spinning its arms. After it charges you rush it and do a slide attack. Just do one attack and back off of it. If you do not you risk being injured. Rinse and repeat this method and you will eventually destroy the firebug.

Big Sister is the third boss in the surge. You will go through three phase of fighting when you meet this boss. The first step after you fall down from the ledge above is you will have to destroy the two pincers that are attacking you. It will have a few different attacks which include it smashing the pincers down on you, Swiping the pincers side to side on the ground, and it will lunge the pincers at you. After every 2 or 3 attacks from the Big Sister a laser will be shot from its head aiming at you, so make sure your paying attention to the Fight so that you know when to dodge it when it comes your way.  The best time to attack these is when the lunge at you as they will sit in place for a few seconds before they retract back. I suggest you hit it with 1 or 2 hits to avoid getting hit by the next attack. Rinse and repeat this with both of the pincers until they are destroyed.

During the second phase you will move closer to the head but this time you will be dealing with 4 arms that shoot out lasers 2 on each side. These arms have quite a few attacks which include spinning around in a circle within its vicinity and, lunging, and spewing fire. What you will want to do is stick to one side and destroy both arms on that side first. Doing so will decrease the chances of you getting attacked by all four arms as these arms can take you out within 4 hits. after you destroy 2 arms on one side move to the other and destroy the other two. Depending on your weapons power you should be able to take them out with 4 to 5 swings each (I was using a Single – Rigged weapon which is powerful yet slow). Also note that during this faze the head will continue to shoot lasers at you so be on the look out for it and dodge when needed.

After you’ve defeated the four arms you will get to the final phase which is the head. The head has several attacks which include It smashing down from the top of the screen, When it opens its arms and follows you around it will try to grab you and crush you, it can swing its arms/ head from one side to the other. At certain times it will block you which will be when it has its hands covering the face. At this time is when you will do the least amount of damage to it. You will still want to attack it during this time though. But feel free to attack it after successfully evading its attacks as there is really no great opportunity to attack the head during this faze. After about 20 hits you should defeat Big Sister.

The Black Cerberus is the fourth boss in the game, encountered on your way to the Executive Forum. After he dismisses the security staff around him, head down into the arena. He has several variations of three attacks – a slide attack, a multi-hit combo, and an AOE wave attack. The key to avoiding all of these is to lock onto the Cerberus and run in a circle around him, darting in after he attacks to perform a multi-hit combo and whittle away his health bar.

How many hits you perform depends on the weapon – a one-handed combo should land three or four hits before dodging backwards to avoid his next attack. Stick with this pattern, and once you’ve taken 1/4-1/3 of his health he will retreat back behind the glass and a PAX robot will come out that you will need to destroy.

This is where you need to do a little extra work to make the fight easier for you. Use the same strategy on this PAX as you did on the one in the Rocket Yard – attack the legs and fill their threat meter. However, when the meter is full, instead of rushing in close, get away and stand in front of the two large white tanks on opposite sides of the arena (one next to the window the Cerberus hides behind, one next to the door the PAX emerges from). When PAX fires his cannon, dodge out of the way so that the blast strikes the canister. Repeat this three or four times for each canister to destroy them – this will prevent further PAXes from showing up during the course of the fight. It will also enable you to acquire the full Black Cerberus gear set at the end of the fight. If you do not destroy these tanks, you will have to fight three PAXes instead of one, in addition to the Black Cerberus.

After you’ve destroyed the tanks and robot The Black Cerberus will return with a full health bar and an electrified weapon. Be wary of his new electric wave attacks, which will not only stun and damage you, but also open you up to monstrous amounts of damage from Cerberus’s follow-up attack. Continue running around him to avoid attacks and swooping in to deal damage until you receive a promp to initiate a finishing move.

Make sure to target his RIGHT ARM so that you can collect his MG Judge v2.0 axe at the end of the fight.

Rogue Process is the fifth and final boss of the game.

WARNING
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DEFEAT THIS BOSS UNLESS YOU WISH TO END THE GAME OR BEGIN NEW GAME +.

The first phase of this fight is against the giant 5-legged creature pictured above. To complete this phase you must attack each of the beast’s legs – this will cause it to draw nanites away from the control console that you attempted to overload at the beginning of the fight. Lock on to the leg you want to attack and run in a circle around it –  clockwise for the legs on your left and counter-clockwise around it for the ones on your right – and dodge forward to avoid it’s stabbing/crushing attacks. After landing a few attacks of your own, dodge backwards and resume circling.

We recommend targeting the right legs first, then the left (it’s slightly easier to dodge past the attacks on this side). Once you’ve managed to damage all the creature’s legs, the control terminal will be exposed. Run to the station and overcharge it to start the second stage of the fight.

This enhanced version of a Chrysalis soldier uses a combination of Chrysalis attacks (fast spins and flurries) combined with ones similar to the Cerberus soldiers. You can block his smaller attacks, but the more powerful ones – those that are reminiscent of Cerberus’s axe attacks – will deal substantial damage no matter what.

Avoid and block the incoming attacks, returning your own whenever possible. Once you get the process’s health low enough, you’ll be able to trigger a finishing move – this will reward you with the Mimetic Edge and end the game.
