Amazon Prime Air Drone Delivery
Just few days ago, Amazon unveiled their new drone for the Prime Air project. Almost two years ago, Amazon unveiled the first drone which was meant to be used for deliveries and this is the updated version. As you may already know, Jeremy Clarkson the former host of Top Gear is now working with Amazon, and he filmed this great commercial including the new Prime Air Services. Check out the video.
Amazon Drone Launching Video :
As you can see in the video, Amazon’s drone now has a hybrid design. It also looks a lot larger than in the previous designs. You can imagine this drone flying over you house and we can expect a lot of UFO reports from the neighbors.
This new Prime Air drone is not a regular quad-copter. It still has the ability to take off and land vertically, but once it is in the air it will switch to horizontal flight mode which makes it far more efficient. The drone can cover an area of 15 miles and it can fly over 55 miles per hour. Clarkson also mentioned that Amazon is building an entire fleet of these drones which will cover different environments and will be adapted for different purposes.
The new Amazon Prime Air Drone has a lot of sensors which will help it to avoid obstacles and to locate its target. As we can see in the Clarkson’s video, users will be able to mark the landing spot by placing the Amazon logo in the desired area where the drone will land and drop off the package.
Amazon Prime Spokesman Said:
For now, Amazon still has a few problems to solve if they want to use the Prime Air Drone in a city. There are strict safety regulations which they have to obey. You wouldn’t want this drone bumping into your head on your way to work. Would you? For now, the new drone is suited well for doing deliveries in rural and suburban areas.
To see how much has the new drone changed, take a look at the old Amazon Prime Air commercial.
