Architecture student honored for 'urban living room' design concept

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Architecture undergraduate In Pun was named a finalist in ModernfoldStyles Inc.’s Office of the Future design competition, winning a $2,000 scholarship. ModernfoldStyles, based in Hackensack, New Jersey, sells and installs operable partitions and glass-wall systems, and sponsored the competition as part of its 60th anniversary celebration.Pun proposed an “urban living room” with wood, stone and glass as the primary construction materials for a spacious office area.“The design aims to provide inspiration, encourage communication instead of administrative activities, and decentralize the organization of office work,” Pun wrote in her design proposal. “The office of the future must offer a wide range of information and ideas. The essential way to motivate office workers and to achieve higher performance is to make the workplace an enjoyable environment.”The competition was open to architecture and interior design students in their freshman, sophomore or junior years from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Judges included architecture and interior design professionals from a variety of firms. For more information, visit modernfoldstyles.com/finalists-2017/.Last Updated May 26, 2017Let’s block ads!
