Text- Jeremiah 3:15 – “And I will give you Pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”

You see, many who say “yes” to the call of God never eventually step into ministry, so the fact that your Pastor is in ministry means that he is a survivor. There are just too many hurdles to steeping into ministry.

Furthermore, having stepped into ministry, a lot of Pastors quit somewhere along the line. So again, the fact that your Pastor has remained in ministry means he is a survivor. There are a lot of hurdles to cross even in ministry.

What makes ministry quite difficult is that it is all about people, and people can sometimes be difficult. Jesus had twelve disciples, and Judas was among them. How much more mortal men like our Pastors, handling that congregation size!

It is true that Pastors have a lot of obligations towards the flock under their care, but the same goes for the members too. I have mentioned that there are at least seven things we owe our Pastors. Yesterday, we talked about the first – Obedience. Here is another thing we owe our Pastors

2. Service

Pastoring is all about serving people. Pastors sometimes Serve and serve and serve until they burn out. The reasons why many Pastors burn out is that most people don’t see the need to serve their Pastor in return.

The Church is not a restaurant where you sit down, place orders and get served by the waiter-pastor. If that is the way you view Church, you have gotten it all mixed up. Church is like a family home where everyone has a role in preparing the meal, setting the table

and cleaning up afterwards. So then, rather than simply point out problems in the Church to your pastor, and expect him to fix them, offer yourself up as part of the solution.

Most often than not, when people point out problems to the Pastor, he's probably far more aware of the issue than the person who is trying to point it out to him, he's simply waiting for someone to step up and play their part. Why not be that someone?

Furthermore, understand the vision of your Pastor and be a part of his team in actualizing that vision. Serve under his vision in the best possible way. Don’t do it because you covet his anointing, do it because you take delight in serving him in return as he serves you.

PRAYER

I commit today to serve and support my Pastor and his vision in the best way possible. Lord, I receive grace through my service, to ensure that my Pastor never burns out in Jesus Name.
