“Every thug deserves a slug.”

“Just another savage that needs to be exterminated.”

“Its a good day for a choke hold.”

“F these muslem turd goat humpers.”

“Let [refugees] starve to death. I hate every last one of them.”

“They said f*** the police so I said f*** your 911 call. I’ll get to your dying homeboy when I finish my coffee.”

These are words posted by Police Officers on Facebook.

As a Christian I expect fellow Christians in Law Enforcement to apply the law without favoritism or discrimination of any kind. A Christian is to reflect the justice of God, who “takes no bribes”, has created all humanity in the “image” of God, and is “not a respecter of persons.”

As a citizen I expect police officers, regardless of faith, to apply the law without favoritism or discrimination because they’ve sworn an oath to do so, to “protect and serve” all of us.

Yet The Plain View Project, after looking at the public Facebook profiles of almost 3,000 police officers in large and small communities across the U.S., found that…

“about 1 in 5 of the current officers, and 2 in 5 of the retired officers, made public posts or comments…displaying bias, applauding violence, scoffing at due process, or using dehumanizing language. The officers mocked Mexicans, women, and black people, celebrated the Confederate flag, and showed a man wearing a kaffiyeh scarf in the crosshairs of a gun.”

1 in 5,000 would be too many, right? 1 in 5 should trouble all of us, especially the many Christians in law enforcement striving to protect and serve all.

This is a biblical justice issue: The law is not enforced equally for all when anyone enforcing it does not believe all are equal.

PROVERBS 24:24,25 Whoever says to the guilty, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations. But it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and rich blessing will come on them.

LEVITICUS 19:15 Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly.

JOB 34:1819 Is [God] not the One who says to kings, ‘You are worthless,’ and to nobles, ‘You are wicked,’ who shows no partiality to princes and does not favor the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of his hands?

2 CHRONICLES 19:7 Judge carefully, for with the Lord our God there is no injustice or partiality or bribery.
