August 21 – Dressed for Eternity

“I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with Garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”  Isaiah 61:10 (NIV)

We read in today's verse from Isaiah a testimony from the prophet Isaiah.  This kind of testimony is what God wants to hear from us. He want our hearts to be filled with joy as we think  of what He has done for us. The change that came to us when we believed in Jesus as our Savior should be greater than getting a new set of clothes to wear. We remember how good it feels to have a new suit or new dress to wear.  Well, the new garments that God gives us by faith is far more wonderful than that.  They are actually the greatest of all garments to wear, the garments of salvation and righteousness.  They never wear out and are ours for ever for they come from our Father in Heaven.  Isaiah compares these to a bridegroom and bride dressed for their wedding – because that is what we are promised.
