Someone Stole from Our Disabled Neighbor

I apologize for any errors in this or other blog posts. These days, I am most often multitasking when I take a moment to post here.

Our neighbor, T, has Muscular Dystrophy. He is wheelchair dependent and at the point where he needs help getting in and out of bed, bathing, and more. He relies on in home aids sent through an agency.

Sunday night, he was robbed by two former caregivers. H and L broke into his house in the middle of Sunday night and stole around $11k in cash, family jewelry, all of his guns, important documents, and more. Anything of value, they took. They cleaned him out!

The Women were clearly identifiable on the game camera he had set up in that room. So far, the Police have not arrested the women.

T is asking for prayers that police will arrest them very soon and that he can recover most, if not all, of what was taken from him.

T had to rely on them and had come to trust them. His heart is hurting.

Our family has met these Young Women (20s) who are both mothers of very young children. Their children will be affected by their crime.

Our two youngest boys had a good relationship with both H and L, helped them with some of the heavier tasks, and taught them how to use the lift. Their hearts are hurting too.

Sinful behavior is selfish and thinks only of itself. It has destructive consequences that reach much further than the original intent. Please pray for Timmy. Please pray for these young women and their children.

I do not sit in judgement or condemnation of these women. The Bible says "sin so easily entangles" us. (Hebrews 12:1)  That means ALL of us...me..and you too. In situations where others have made poor choices, I use it as a warning to myself and take a moment to pray I do not fall into sin. I look for weeds in my heart and ask God to start pulling. Even if I live to be 120 years old, there will not be enough time for me to honor and glorify the Lord, so I don't want to waste a moment.

I encourage you right now to take a moment to examine your life and flee from the things that take you further from the Lord. Fix the things in your life that need fixing. Reach out and mend those relationships. Ask God to make you strong where you are weak. Live to glorify the Lord, not self.

This life is not a game! It's serious business with eternal consequences.

Update: Clint is going to ask T if he can call a local news station for help. He is also looking into motion detecting lights, signs, and a remote controlled door alarms. Those are somethings we may be able to afford that will work with T's specific needs.

If an arrest is made, I will update.

Update: Clint spoke with T and learned the women admitted to police that they took his things. They claimed they no longer had them because they got scared and threw them in a field. Nothing has been recovered. Police would not tell T if they girls had been arrested. If I learn more, I will update.

Update: I just searched our county's court cases. One was charged with grand larceny. The other was charged with a felony. Both were released under recognizance. They have hearings on the 15th.
