REFUSE TO GIVE UP

Are you going through tough times in your life and you feel like giving up? If yes, then consider this: William Harvey laboured for eight years to prove how blood circulated in the human body, and it took the medical profession another twenty-five years to prove he was right. Thomas Edison experienced 10,000 failures before he perfected the light bulb, an invention you and I are enjoying today. What about John Creasey who received 743 refusals from publishing houses before his first novel was accepted. Yet, he became a famous and prolific novelist who eventually went on and published 560 books, which have sold more than 60 million copies.

I want you to understand that it doesn’t matter what you’re going through. What counts is how you respond to the challenges that you face. Even though you Failed at something, it doesn’t matter how many times you failed, don’t quit! Dave Weinbaum once said, “Victories often occur after you see no way to succeed but refuse to give up.” The truth about life is that as long as you are breathing, you will always be confronted by obstacles. You may have failed an exam, made a bad investment, lost a job, or been seeking for a job and you feel like quitting. DON’T! Never give up, for that is the place and time the tide will turn.
Of course, I know there are times when giving up is easier than standing up. Yet, this is the big difference between those who succeed and those who fail. Some people give up their dreams and resort to taking Shortcuts. Shortcuts lead you nowhere; they are dead ends. As John Maxwell once remarked, “Never take shortcuts. They don’t pay off in the long run.”

Don’t Quit Now
Did you know that Thomas Edison, the American inventor, who invented the light bulb, was written off by his teachers as mentally slow and uneducable, and eventually expelled from school? As a young boy, he did not give up. If he did, we probably won’t have light bulbs today. I encourage you not to give up on your dreams. I want you to know that there is something inside you that this generation needs. You are unique and special. You are the only you that exists in this world. Don’t let the potentials, gifts and talents deposited inside you die in you.

“The tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives” remarked Albert Schweitzer. Refuse to quit on your dreams because the world needs you.

You are so close to fulfilling your dreams; put your trust in God and His Word. Talking about Thomas Edison, he stated, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realise how close they were to success when they gave up.” The Bible counsels, in 2 Corinthians 4:18, “While we look not at the things which are seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” The problems you see with your physical eyes are temporary. Only God’s word is eternal. Don’t give up on the promises of God concerning you; they will surely come to pass.
Finally, I encourage you not to fear whatever problems life throws at you; let your faith in God be strong. I believe in your future and I know that you will not give up on God, yourself and your generation. In the end, you’ll be able to say like Dan Millman, “Looking back, we see with great clarity, and what once appeared as difficulties now reveal themselves as blessings.” Don’t give up. It’s only a matter of time!
