These are in no particular order of importance to me….but I was thinking about the lessons I have Learned in the past. For starters, I recently acknowledged that a “lesson in humility” teaches far more than a “ego boost”…and that most often…in my experience…what I don’t want to do is the very thing I need to do the most. I also think it would be fair to make note of the fact that best friends sometimes say the hardest things to hear…most likely, because they truly love us unconditionally. Have you ever noticed that sometimes it’s not until you give up the right to control that a breakthrough comes or that people are more honest with you if they can predict your reaction? Why is it that we hurt most the ones we love the most….tough Lesson indeed….but very true! And I notice that the occasion of this goes both ways. Very few people can really comply with “don’t tell anyone”…so shouldn’t we stop putting others on the spot to comply? A lesson that I am very familiar with is that you never get a second chance at a first impression…my father taught me that one….along with “Don’t burn bridges!” Yesterday, I was reminded that God’s way is always better than my own…and that rebuilding trust is more difficult than keeping established trust. My father always told me that the only dumb question was the one I didn’t ask….makes sense to me more so today than when I was a teenager. Seems I want more answers today than I ever have in my life. As I reflect on the lesson’s I have learned throughout my life…I would have to say that I am getting along quite well. After all…..aren’t we meant to learn something from all of life’s experience? Perhaps these little tidbits of learning may help someone else discern their own….when we develop our spiritual awareness and realize that we are all learning and growing spiritually as one body…..in Christ….nothing should ever hold us back from sharing with one another…what we have learned from our life’s experience!
