103 – Looking Back on My Journey

As I look back over my path of weakness, I realize that I am coming out of this very, very well! Although the healing process these past 7 months surely seemed like an extremely long one to me, and riddled with tests, I’ve had another opportunity to realize how bad it could have been.

A catalyst that allowed me this favorable comparison was coming across a Discussion Site that is frequented by people with broken legs! (Yes, it is amazing how there’s a site for everything nowadays!)

The thing I like about this particular discussion site is that it is not just medical facts and figures, or some doctor spewing out theory that is way above the heads of non-medical laypersons. Instead, patients who have experienced broken legs and surgeries and recoveries write the vast majority of postings on this site. They have “been there, and done that”, and are very down-to-earth and relatable.

Although I ran across this site late in my recovery, .I am thankful to partake of the combined wealth of experience, mixed with empathy.

During the course of reading, I’ve gleaned comments written by people with similar fractures to what I had, many of whom I endured surgeries causing them much more pain and suffering than I have, as well as requiring a longer recovery period. The only purpose for highlighting some of these folks’ hard luck is simply to accentuate the point that I’ve come to appreciate that things sure could have been a lot worse in my case.
