In Memory of Mariana Capiz

I, Shaun Middleton, the senior minister and founder for the World Outreach Church of Christ wish to devote this section of the church site to a very special woman who passed away way too soon. Mariana Capiz lived in Chicago Illinois her whole life. Her father came to the United States from Poland. He was a member of the Polish Resistance in World War 2. Her mother came from Germany. Mariana was their only daughter. She grew up a number of brothers.

Mariana was my long term fiance. We first met at the Diplomat Hotel on Sheffield Street before it was closed down and renovated back in 2009. I enjoyed her company. We enjoyed talking about religion while drinking strong coffee that she made. She would talk about the Jewish faith. At that time I was interested in the Eastern Orthodox church. I also told her about my dreams of being a writer. I enjoyed her company because she was among the very few that didn't drink too much or use drugs. She was refreshing to be with, having a friendly attitude and interest that were beyond her immediate circumstances.

Many people in Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville know about the problems I had that were started by the CIA and their quest for ESP. It consumed many years of my life, which included the years I knew Mariana. Mariana provided me with the greatest measure of help during this unusual chapter of my life. She gave me food, helped to pay for the hotels we stayed in, and gave me money whenever she was able to do so. The World Outreach Church of Christ would likely not have succeeded at all if she hadn't been there for me as often as she was.

Mariana Capiz was a widow when I met her. She also suffered from asthma, bipolar disorder and other medical conditions. Many people in the near North area of Chicago Illinois already know how the police detectives intentionally exposed her to a rare form of food poisoning. It's very unfortunate that my situation had caused her life to end. Maybe those particular police detectives are dead. Even so, I believe that the police superintendent needs to at least be questioned over this matter.

Mariana Capiz was concerned about her community. A friend to the poor. I don't believe the people in Chicago Illinois will ever fully realized the significance of this loss.
