The Root of Anger

Tags: root anger slowly
Human beings have a tendency towards Slowly but surely becoming more like the things we despise the most. For this reason, in my opinion, it's wise for us to get to the Root of why we are so deeply irritated by the things we are irritated by.

Have you ever wondered how it's possible for a person to grow up hating domestic violence and/or substance abuse, for example, just for them to grow up and become abusive and/or addicted in their adult life? Maybe you've seen individuals who started out in a corporation or in politics with the intentions to overcome the corruption they despised, yet with time, they slowly become equally as corrupt as the powers they once criticized.

There are some truths that are not indefinite. Meaning, this is thankfully not the case for every person who has a distaste for something and, prayerfully, will never be the case for you and me. However, it's something we should acknowledge because we see it happen very often.

I find myself saying often to worship singers I know, when I see them aroused with righteous indignation against someone/something: "Do not judge, because you never know what factors truly make something 'wrong' seem logically right in the mind of a person whose shoes we never walked in." They almost always answer me with the same indignation that you're probably thinking right now: "But that doesn't make it right! That doesn't make it okay!"

I get it and I agree to that. Nevertheless, I want to say to you one more time: Be careful with what you despise. With as much hatred as you have towards the things you hate, you will hate yourself equally as much (not if but) when you see those traits within yourself.
