Giving From My Overflow

There was a time when I used to think that the height of my "Christianity-ism" could only be determined by what I was able to give to people, specifically on the altar while I was leading Worship. For this reason, what I worked on the most, was making sure I always had something to give (musically, spiritually, etc.). I measured the extent of how "spiritual" I was based on how seemingly blessed the people around me were when I ministered. It sounds like I had good intentions but, quite obviously, I had the wrong idea.

Now, when I sing/minister, I make a conscious decision to only make myself available to do so from the Overflow of what God has given me. What I mean by that is, when a person seeks God on a personal level, His truth and blessings are innately so impactful that there would be no way for that person to have the capacity to give everything they might have/want to give through just one song, or one book, or one worship set, or one blog post. Hey... a tweet is only 280 characters long. For most of us, there's no possible way we can condense all that we know God to be in just that length lol.

Today, (all glory to God,) God has blessed me to a state where I honestly don't think I yet know how to give to others ALL that He is giving me. So, it feels like I'll need to spend the rest of my life trying to find new and creative ways to learn how to do so. Mind you, I'm sure He will be pouring more into me, the more I pour out.

Bare in mind, THAT THIS IS ONLY BECAUSE that's what I have been having the faith to believe Him for lately. When I used to only ask God for me to have something to give to His people, that's what He used to give me (but still, many times, I was left feeling empty—personally). Today, my prayers to God look something like this: "God bless me with as much as I have the capacity to contain, and teach me how to give to others from the abundance of what You have given me, in Jesus Name. Amen."

Worship Leaders, may we never put a limit on God. He is the God of more than enough and the God who can cause us to have an overflow.
