Rumors / Staying Focused

HELLO Worship LEADER! One of the biggest distractions of the enemy that keeps us from focusing on what we are assigned to accomplish as worship leaders, is the over-application of the concept that we have to protect ourselves and protect the Kingdom of God against the negative rumors that come up. I can tell you this from experience, when a person really likes you or believes in the cause(s) you favor, you can commit the biggest offense in town and the person will try to contrive an excuse to justify your bad action. On the contrary, when a person does not like you or the cause(s) you favor, you can win a Noble Peace Prize and the person who doesn't like you will say that you only won the peace prize just because you were trying to start a war.

Contrary to what we condition ourselves to believe, most people are going to think whatever they WANT to think about us. When a person's mind is made up...... it's basically just really made up 🤷🏾‍♀️. There are so many people who assess your character, your worship, your motives, your heart, your appearance, your intentions, etc. filtered through they eyes of what they CHOOSE to see and not necessarily through the lenses of unbiased reality.
You can waste so much time trying to look good that you have no time to invest on actually learning how to be good. That is a huge problem! The point is that, people who really want to hate you will most likely hate you no matter what you do and people who really want to love you will almost always love and/or forgive you.

However, what about the people who are sitting in the audience and sincerely just want God and didn't come to church to assess you or me, but have specific intentions about what they want to receive from God? They will have pure access to the truth and you owe it to those people to be the best version of yourself for them, in executing your worship assignment for God's glory, for their benefits, and ultimately for the benefit of the Kingdom as a whole.

If you waste time on trying to curtail the appearance of who you are, in order to accommodate the misconceptions of people whose minds are already made up about what they choose to think about you, you are POORLY MISMANAGING YOUR TIME! You are giving away the Children's Bread! You are taking the time you should be spending on becoming your best self and wasting it on trying to sway the wrong opinions people have of you, even though they are committed to never changing them. If I said it once, I've said it a million times: we have a vision to stick to and goals to accomplish. No matter what, we must train ourselves to stay focused. When you really think about it, what else really matters anyway:

For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? -Romans 3:3
