Preaching VS. Worship [WARNING: This is a RANT lol]

Worship Leaders, you would never guess what happened to me. Last night, I was watching the live stream of a certain popular Worship leader's book release event. The event started out with about thirty minutes of praise and worship. Afterwards, a preacher came on to deliver a Word -- or a message, however you want to say it.
Now before I say my commentary about what happened next, I must admit that I, myself, only watched the message for about five to ten minutes before signing off of the live stream. That was because I didn't personally think that the message was for me. I would even go as far as to say that the message wasn't exactly tailor-made for this younger generation of believers. You know the way the millennials like to receive a Word in this day and age, right? We like the Steven Furtick's and the John Gray's of message style delivery, but anyway...

One thing I know is that its very important for all of us to find ourselves in a church where the word of God is delivered in a way that we're personally able to digest it. If a person doesn't like the way their pastor preaches but they like the way the worship leader sings, I'm sorry to say but, they still would be better off finding a church that feeds them the Word properly, as opposed to learning to feast on everything else while simultaneously devaluing the importance of the Word of God.

I'm saying this because I was literally shocked shook by the comments I saw in that worship leader's live stream last night, after the Man of God began to bring forth the Word of God. People in the comments began complaining about how they can't stand it when Pastors interrupt the flow of the worship! As soon as the first comment was made, then came the rest: "I was thinking the same thing" "You don't even need a Word, as long as you got some good worship, you're good" "Healing and deliverance can come through worship." "He really just came and interrupted the move of God."

What?! I kid you not, I was reading those comments, looking at my iPad like: 😳😳😳

The thing is this (and notice how much I don't mind bringing challenges to the millennial mentality simply because I'm a millennial myself lol) if you don't like the way a person preaches, that is you're right. If you like the way a person preaches but their message just wasn't hitting home for you on a certain day, that is your opinion! You are entitled to your own opinion. HOWEVER, one thing that is not an opinion, is that the Word of God is Jesus Christ, Himself. To not be able to see the value of the Bible, the Word of God, and the Servants whom God has ordained to break down His Word to us, is ultimately an insult and a disrespect to God. Maybe the Word didn't appeal to you that day, but maybe it saved someone else's life, that same day.

I'm saying this here because I believe that praise and worship has become, and continues to become more and more of a trend; something that tickles our religious fancy instead of teaching us to show reverence to the things of God, for what they are worth. People are beginning to worship the worship and worship the worship leaders. Are you trying to tell me that if your church service didn't have you as a worship leader or if there was no praise and worship segment in the service, people would not be able to have an encounter with God? If this is true then something is truly wrong..

Worship leader, don't let anyone put you on their pedestal. Always maintain genuine respect for God, exemplified through the way you regard His people, His Word, His House, His Ordained Ministers, Communion, Collection of Offering, the Musicians, the Volunteers, the Bathroom Cleaners, etc. etc. etc. Everything that has anything to do with God deserves our utmost respect; especially His Word.

If a person loves the worship, but disrespects the Pastor, who was chosen by God, how can we say that that person truly has reverence for God?

Worship leader, please don't let anyone feed subtle negativity to your brain. When people come to you saying you're so great, you're so anointed, the service won't be what it is if it weren't for you, etc., DON'T ACCEPT IT. Tell them that they're wrong. Point them to God. Remind them that God can use anyone or anything and if He even wanted to use a donkey to change their life, God has the power to do just that! Don't feed into the hype. All glory, abilities, and good things belong to and come from God. Worship leaders, we are responsible for breaking this trend of having people worship our worship instead of making sure they worship the God we are talking about!

That was Lucifer's sin. He just loved being admired until it got to the point that he encouraged others to worship him. Don't let the devil trick you. Remind yourself daily that all glory belongs to God. If a person doesn't love your pastor, or your fellow worship leader, or the message being brought forth, etc. etc., then their love for you is idolatry 😱😵. Yes I said it, because it's the truth. Let no man worship you or your worship while disrespecting other things pertaining to God. All glory belongs to Him.
