US embassy in Turkey
There is no doubt that president Erdogan's rhetoric has provoked a wave of anti-US sentiment in Turkey. This was after relations between Turkey and the US descended to an historic low.
Apparently, this led to the US embassy in Ankara being attacked this morning. Shots were fired at the embassy smashing the window of a security booth.

Due to Erdogan's refusal to release a jailed American pastor, President Trump imposed sanctions on two Turkish ministers and raised tariffs on some imports.
The Turkish Lira has nosedived, losing almost 40 per cent of its value against the dollar this year. President Erdogan has described the US actions as an “economic war” and urged Turks to fight back by changing their foreign currency into lira.
It must also be noted that the US and Turkey do not see eye to eye when it comes to Syria.
At least a dozen US citizens, many of them dual Turkish nationals, are detained in the country. Two Turkish citizens who work with the US consulate are also in prison.
