We Are God's People

Have you ever tasted a baked good that was missing a key ingredient? The taste will be off or the dough may not rise high enough. I've definitely had my fair share of these, especially when I first started experimenting with gluten free foods. However, you learn the right measurements, what tastes good and what does not (I highly advise against lemon poppyseed cookies). You also begin to see that key ingredients are definitely necessary to make the food taste Perfect. In the same way, we are all people of necessity in this world. God has a perfect plan for each of us at every moment of our lives. Everyone is unique, gifted with specific talents that help them to show God's love in the world. Without each and every one of us, it'd be like an ingredient was missing, and wouldn't be quite right. If you every questioned your worth, remember that God knew you and every number of hairs on your head before you were even born.
Today's Gospel states:'"You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven. "Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven' (Matthew 5:13-19).
Today's reading talks about how we are the salt of the earth, God's people on a mission to bring His love in the world. We are God's disciples and are perfect in His image and likeness. We have a purpose and that is primarily to seek God in this life and the next. If tou ever get lost and forget what ingredient you make in the worldly baked good, maybe it's time to go back to the core and rebuild that relationship with God at the centre. Take some time to pray and thank God for making you a unique part of His plan for this life.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for making me perfect in Your image and likeness. Please help me never to forget that You have a plan for me in this world. Let me see Your will for my life in all that I do.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
