When you think about what lays ahead for you in life, what all comes to mind? Who will be your family, what will your job be, where will you live? We become flustered and anxious because there's no way we can know what the future will bring, only God can. However, the most important decision you face, is what your Vocation will be? Will you be married, become a priest or sister, live a single and celebrate life? God calls each of us to a vocation, that which we dedicate our life to, fully and completely. Thank about all the love stories you see. Two people give themselves completely to each other for life, in sickness and in health right? Well in a vocation, God not only calls us to give ourselves completely to a spouse, to Him, to our own future, but to use our vocation to reach Sainthood, in helping us to be better people of faith.

   Today's Gospel states:'And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful to divorce one's wife for any cause?" He answered, "Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, `For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder." They said to him, "Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?" He said to them, "For your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another, commits adultery." The disciples said to him, "If such is the case of a man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry." But he said to them, "Not all men can receive this saying, but only those to whom it is given. For there are Eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it"' (Matthew 19:3-12).

   The people ask if a married couple can be divorced? However, Jesus responds to them, saying that God joined them together, to grow together and strengthen each other. They are joined in a sacrament, so to help one another become Saints, influencing each other in love to find God.

 Who could want to separate such a bond? The same can be said of a priest or celibate person. They give themselves completely to God, dedicating their life to serving and helping others. God guides each of us into a vocation, so to seek Him. Take some time to reflect and pray about where God is leading you.

   Today's prayer comes from 'Catholic Bishops' a prayer for discerning vocations:

Lord, there are so many things in my life that I do not understand, so many questions about the future that I need to ask. What is Your plan for me? What is the work You want me to do?

All I really know is that You love me. Show me the road You want me to walk – to fulfillment, to happiness, to holiness.

And if You are calling me to priesthood or to the religious life, give me the strength to say “yes” and the grace to begin even now to prepare myself for the challenge of a life spent in Your service and in the care of Your people.
