Devotional: It is finished

When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high… Hebrews 1:3

…fixing our eyes on Jesus… who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

Once I’ve got the children in bed, I don’t like to stop and sit down until I know I’ve got all the jobs done and am ready for the next day. If I stop and sit down too soon, there’s a danger that that will be it for the evening, nothing else is likely to happen! Once I sit, I have Finished for the day.

Jesus is sitting. All His work is done. He accomplished everything He came to earth to do. There is nothing to add to the finished work of the Cross. Jesus bought us with His blood. He took our sin, our shame, our brokenness as His own and gave us new life. He bought our freedom, our purity, our wholeness. We can come as we are knowing that God loves us, accepts us and is delighted in us because He accepts the finished work of the cross. Jesus has sat down.
