Which Detroit Lions player deserves the game Ball for preseason game 2.

The Detroit Lions capped off another dominant Performance against a subpar team by trouncing the New York Jets 16-6.

There were a few standout performances on the team, and, as always, we are going to pick out the top five. After we list the top five performances, it will be your job to vote on the best player performance to hand out the Game Ball to for Week 2 of the preseason.

Now, onto this week’s candidates.

Matthew Stafford

Much like last week, Stafford got off to a slow start. A poor throw nearly resulted in another interception, but after taking two possessions to settle in, Stafford turned into the quarterback we all know and love.

In the end, Stafford finished with a pretty dominant 8-for-10 for 84 yards and a perfectly placed touchdown to Marvin Jones Jr.

Jamal Agnew

Agnew gave up quite a few receptions, but kept almost everything in front of him, and was in blanket coverage all day. Although he made a nice pass breakup on third down in the end zone to halt a Jets’ drive, I’d like to see more plays on the ball from him, but he did lead the team with seven tackles on the evening.

Akeem Spence

Spence wasn’t in the game for long, but the Lions have been looking for some push from the inside of the defensive line, and Spence brought it on Saturday.

After spelling Haloti Ngata, he quickly picked up a sack in the first quarter of the game, bowling over an offensive lineman, and landing right into Christian Hackenberg. On the very next play, Spence stuffed Jets’ running back Bilal Powell at the line of scrimmage for a short gain.

Marvin Jones Jr.

Jones was Stafford’s favorite target on Saturday, seeing five balls thrown his way through three possessions. Jones pulled in four of those passes for 34 yards and a touchdown. The other pass was technically a drop—and almost led to an interception—but Stafford’s ball placement didn’t help Jones out.

Rolan Milligan

There weren’t a ton of breakout performances on Saturday night, so if someone made one, big play, they tended to stand out. That’s the case for Milligan, who sealed the game with an impressive interception.
