Looking for a place to have a nice coffee break in the CBD? We have a suggestion for you. Providore Raffles Place is the flagship cafe and retail store of the Providore group in Singapore. The space that used to be just a patch of turf in between the two Raffles Place MRT exits has now been converted into various uses. At the Republic Plaza end of the space lies an attractive metal and glass building that houses Providore Cafe at Raffles Place.

Stylish Providore

The Providore Raffles Place is a standalone building which would probably look good as a seafront bungalow at Sentosa (leaving aside practical concerns arising out of the all-glass structure).

There are lots of cafes and restaurants at Raffles Place. Our sole reason to stop by the Providore Raffles Place was to experience the place which would be difficult to ignore if one was passing by and had some free time. We are familiar with the food that Providore serves, having been to a few of their other outlets. You can read about our visits to their outlets in Mandarin Gallery and OUE Downtown.

The folks at Providore seem to have mastered the art of making industrial interior design stylish. Their supplies are displayed in the open shelves. Somehow the designers have managed to make the merchandise take on a duo purpose as decorative objects without causing a cluttered effect.

Pastries & Coffee at Providore Raffles Place

Our only food and drinks that day were some pastries and coffee. The muffin ($3.50) was moist and a perfect thing to eat with the coffee that Providore is famous for.

We selected a strawberry Danish ($4) as it looked so different from the muffin. The danish was colourful and pretty but the taste was not exceptional.

The coffee ($5 each) at Providore was consistently good as usual – smooth and creamy.  We had a nice coffee break at Providore Raffles Place. It was a stylist place to see and to be seen. The prices were also reasonable considering the location and quality of the coffee.
