Polite Society gears up for Volunteer Park Pride Festival!

We are ready for Volunteer Park Pride Festival…Are you Seattle?

One of our favorite events of the year, the Volunteer Park Pride Festival, is coming up this Saturday! Volunteer Park Pride Festival is a day-long celebration of LGBTQ arts, music and culture, taking place on June 9th from 12- 7 PM. Putting on this festival is one of the most challenging, but also rewarding projects we do all year. We manage the bulk of the festival from start to finish…from booking a diverse and exciting lineup, to finding dozens of vendors, to handling the PR, social media and promotion. It is no small task, but we are looking forward to seeing it come to fruition!

This year’s lineup includes a mix of nationally recognized acts and hometown faves, spanning all genres.
-DESI VALENTINE a London-born, L.A.-based soul singer and songwriter known for his bluesy baritone voice, unique retro R&B style, and radiant charisma.
-TACOCAT, hard-rocking pop-punk-pop stars and staples of the Seattle LGBTQ scene
-DONORMAAL, a Seattle-based hip-hop artist who experiments in “morbid, emotional prayer” through her unique, genre-bending style of rap
-LITTLE BANDIT, who Rolling Stone Magazine describes as “A crew of East Nashville rule-breakers putting a gorgeous, gay-friendly spin on their city’s Countrypolitan past”.
-FRUIT JUICE, retro-glam darlings of the Olympia scene who boast “infectious energy, sparkling oddities, and 13 shades of eye-shadow.”
-BETSY OLSON, a gritty, soulful, blues-rock singer from Seattle whose band includes the inimitable Sera Cahoone on drums.
-DJ TOYA B, a soul, hip-hop and dance DJ “addicted to glitter, hip-hop glamour and Barbie doll fashion.”

We kept Tacocat quiet up until the week of the show, but released some fun Palindrome clues leading up the show (our favorite guess was ABBA), then did an exclusive announce with City Arts magazine to build hype, check out the full article here!

The Volunteer Park Pride Festival takes place on June 9th from noon to 7 PM in Capitol Hill’s Volunteer Park. In addition to the diverse and celebratory musical lineup, the mainstage will also feature inspiring messages about issues important to our community from some of our most important leaders. There is also a craft fair, food trucks and Elysian beer garden. To keep the festival accessible to all, Volunteer Park Pride Festival is free and all ages.

We hope you will join us this weekend at the Volunteer Park Pride Festival!

Get pumped up with our playlist!
