The extreme heat and direct sunlight may break down the components of the perfume so try to keep the fragrance in a cool dry place to avoid the circumstance. Here are the simple tips to pick a

Perfume with the help of your nose and instincts,

  • If you don’t have an idea to choose what you like, smell everything. But try only three perfumes at a time because of your explorations to sniffing only three cents per visit. I didn’t say this. The Stanford MBA founders of fragrance start-up Pinrose suggested this.
  • It’s always better to start with lighter perfumes first. More than 50 percent of the population can’t even smell lighter perfume after smelled heavier one. So go in the order like musky to citrus to fruity florals into heavier woods.
  • Use the sample of the perfume and spray it on the top of the hand or wrists or the crook of the elbow which is the area that isn’t constantly washed. So can check every few minutes or hours to see whether the perfume smell suites you. Because body smell may affect the fragrance smells.
  • If you get a headache when you wear the perfume, just avoid it. Don’t go with the fragrance which makes you uncomfortable or unfamiliar with the smell.

Try to understand the basic perfume categories. That is,

  • Musk – It’s a clean-laundry scent.
  • Smoky – It’s fragrance like a campfire burning, a blown-out match or fragrant cedar chips.
  • Citrusy – It Smells like a spa with a nice yoga studio which includes lemon, oranges, and Lime fragrance.
  • Woody – These perfumes smell varies from a creamy nutty flavor to sandalwood, to spicy and dank like a musky old closet, to cedarwood.
  • Green – It includes the chalky aftertaste of a wheatgrass shot and also dewy moss on a spring morning.

  • Aquatic – all the 7 smells meets up in a bubble bath.
  • Oriental – It’s slightly powdery with a hint of spice or sweetness.
  • Skip the coffee beans fragrance, it’s a strong perfume. It buries your nose and pH recalibrates your nose.

  • You might be seen the cost of perfume varies from 99 INR to 4999 INR.
  • Low-cost fragrances tend to have top notes at initially very very strong after that it won’t last for a longer period of time.
  • Whereas the expensive fragrances have the complexity of a heart and last for a long lasting period.
  • Be conscious of the perfume people around you using.
  • If you really catch a fragrance which you like, ask the wearer about the perfume brand.
  • This is also one of the ways to narrow down your selection process.
  • If you are going to purchase perfume, don’t wear any skin products like body lotion, deodorant or body spray.
  • This may distract your smell and spoil your shopping by confusing you.
  • When you are testing perfume, first take a whiff from the bottle.
  • This will help you to identify whether you like the fragrance or not.
  • If you don’t like from the first sniff itself you can even skip spraying on yourself.
  • If you are gonna smell a lighter fragrance, spray the perfume just outside of your hand instead of the inside of your wrist.
