3. Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans Audiobook

This audiobook will scare the shit out of you. I do not suggest listening to this on a car ride with your seeds.

You have been warned!

Here are just a few things you will learn from this audio book

• The forced sterilization of black women (what civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer plaintively called her “Mississippi appendectomy”) got its start during slavery, but has persisted in less overt forms in recent years.
• In the 1980s Blacks were intentionally left out of potentially life-saving anti HIV drugs. When those drugs came into widespread use in 1991, the Food and Drug Administration lied by saying that those drugs were not effective for Black patients. If more Blacks had been given access, one wonders if the number of HIV-infected African Americans be lower today.
• The Tuskegee Experiment was just one of hundreds of incidents where Black patients were exposed to disease intentionally to study the effects of that disease

I will take it a step further and say that no members of the movement can call themselves educated if they haven’t listened to this audiobook. Thats how important Stolen Legacy is!

No list of Black audiobooks would be complete without something from Dr. Carter G. Woodson!
This book should to be required reading for every teacher, educator, administrator, and parent of children of African descent.

Carter G Woodson’s work will help you understand how the weapon of white supremacy known as miseducation works.

This miseducation creates a serious identity crisis on the part of African youth and it causes many Black “educated” middle class people to spend more time trying to reach the so-called American Dream rather than working toward a real self-determination agenda of African peoples.

As is written in the book “If you control a man’s thinking you do not have to worry about his action.”

7. The Destruction of Black Civilization Audiobook

I cant tell you how happy I was to find the audiobook version of the Destruction of Black Civilization and here is why: This is one of the most important books in Black consciousness. But its also a challenge to get through.

The audiobook version is excellent for those who are not the strongest readers but still need the knowledge contained in this important scroll.

Chancellor Williams – the author – was one of the greatest minds in Black history. His masterpiece will help you understand how the African Diaspora found itself at the mercy of white supremacy.

Dr. Williams brings the lessons of a lifetime of study to his work, and puts Black history into today’s context better than any other book I have ever read.

Not only that, in the closing sections, he gives us a plan for nation building and activism that all of us should be following.

If you ask most members of the community what they think the most important of all Black Consciousness books is, this is the one they would name.
