Matru-Pitru Pujan Divas vs Valentines Day

During past few years i heard the news of Shiv Sena protesting against celebrations of Valentines Day in India. They say that its against the culture of India. I can't understand it, how love can be a danger to religion and culture of a country. India is a home to most number of religions in the world. We respect and celebrate festivals of other religions as well. The grown up community know how to get best from each religion and culture.
But sometimes we become so much rigid that we don't even see what we are doing. Its good that Aasa Ram Bapu Ji have decided to celebrate Matru-Pitru Pujan Divas. But he has chosen the special day of "Valentines Day" to celebrate "Matru-Pitru Pujan Divas". It only shows his hatred towards valentines day. Personally i don't like this idea. There are another 364 days in the year to worship your parents. Those who have decided to celebrate this day as Valentines Day will definitely celebrate it and those who have decided to go Aasa Ram Bapu's way will celebrate Pujan Divas. And some of them will also celebrate both.
But some people in India have become the security guards of religion and culture. And they want everybody else to follow them.
May i know whats bad in Valentine's day. If two grown up people are in love with each other and they want to celebrate a day in the name of love, then whats bad in it. Its never bad when these so called Dharm-Gurus talk about "Radha-Krishna Raas Lila". They will with Radhe-Radhe. Who was Radha? Wife of Krishna? Where is their culture now. But No! Radha was a Godess! Its the path to Moksha!
I am not against Radha-Krishna or against the worship of parents. But against being so religious that you don't remain open minded. There are people in India who celebrate valentines day with their spouse, and even children insist their parents to celebrate valentines day. Whats bad in that? Even if two lovers want to meet on this day and exchange gifts then i don't see anything bad in it. But these Gurus will say that its western culture and its ruining our Indian Culture.
When Hindu's celebrate Karvachauth, then isn't it a celebration of love. Most of us worship our parents daily when we touch their feet and take their blessings, and also there are a number of festivals when we start our rituals after giving food to our parents and taking their blessing. There are different names for these rituals. This Matru-Pitru Pujan Divas is not a different thing.
This 14 Feb celebration by Aasa Ram Bapu reminded me of his latest controversial comment on Delhi Rape Case. These Dharm-gurus always do something to keep themselves in news. They are even greedy of world records. I have recently heard that Aasa Ram Bapu has got a record of most number of sermons in a year.
Lets end it here. And have a HAPPY VALENTINE DAY !!!! :-)
