Another blow to Hispanics? Or to Immigration?

Another Lawsuit against Arizona's Immigration Law, by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) was dismissed earlier this week. This lawsuit was a protest against the material provided for the training of the Arizona law-enforcement department. This material was considered as promoting racial and ethnic profiling.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer had signed what is considered the nation’s toughest bill on illegal immigration into law earlier this year.(Read more) This bill is aimed at identifying, prosecting and deproting undocumented immigrants. There has been strong opposition to the bill, from President Obama to various other sections of society, including police forces who think it will undermine the feeling of security in society. Maybe immigrants would not report crime or offer information for fear of being deported.

Attempts at comprehensive immigration reforms don't seem to be making much headway at all. Now, we have to wait to see what happens to the DREAM Act at the Senate. Can the youngsters, who are directly affected by this Act, begin to dream about US Citizenship?
