CAD, S4C, LASRO visit Ilaje Fish Smoking Facility, Bariga

Yes, we did. On September 28, 2018, the Communities’ Alliance against Displacement, (CAD) partnered with SPACES FOR CHANGE (S4C) to organise a field trip in conjunction with the Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO) to waterfront communities of Bariga in Somolu Local Government Area.

The team visited the poorly functioning Ilaje Fish Smoking Facility and met with various communities’ leaders and members to discuss resilience in the face of development challenges.  Communities at the meeting were Isale-Akoka, Ago-Egun, Ebute-Ilaje, among others.  At the meeting, CAD President, Comrade Aworetan Olatunde stated that CAD would continue to organise communities’ voices and serve as an intermediary to relevant stakeholders in the fight to end displacement in Lagos State. He called on the Lagos State government represented by the LASRO team to intervene and address the communities’ challenges.
