Penalty for Treason

More and more Americans feel high ranking government officials have committed Treason.  There is a growing sentiment that the treachery goes as high as the Presidency.  What happens to American that commit treason.

We have never had an American President accused of treason.  How would he be punished? Would the President be impeached, forced out of his seat and allowed to return to civilian life or would the punishment be more severe?

There is always the possibility that the incoming President could pardon a President convicted of treason, but what is the Penalty for betraying one’s country?

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

The penalty for treason is severe.  This Administration will do anything to avoid being charged and convicted of treason.

Hold on America we’re in for a bumpy ride.  We must stay strong.  Don’t be distracted!
