2017 Toyota Tundra CrewMax Review : No Nonsense Truck

If you are in the market for a pick-up truck, you are absolutely spoilt for choice. One particular model that has always stood out for us is the no-nonsense, full-bore truck, the Toyota Tundra.

One look at the Toyota Tundra pics or the Toyota Tundra gallery will tell you what you need to know. With its tough and brutish looks, the 2017 Tundra inspires confidence to take it anywhere.

Masses of presence on the road

Glossing over the Toyota Tundra Pics, you can see that the enormous chromed front grille and large rectangular automatic headlight clusters give the truck masses of presence on the road. The cab is long and features two extra doors to accommodate the rear passengers. There is more space in the back of a Tundra than inside most other pick-ups.

Behind that is the loading bed, which can take on 2,060 pounds of cargo. The wheels sit low in the wheel arches, thereby allowing a much higher degree of suspension travel. This in turn means that the wheels of the Tundra can perform extremely well on off-road terrain.

What’s New for 2017?

For 2017, the new Tundra only receives minor updates as it had received a full-blown refresh in 2014. The only key changes on this new version, as seen from the Toyota Tundra pics, are to its exterior paint color options. Also, a tow hook is now standard equipment on every Tundra trim level. The last time there were more significant updates to the vehicle was in 2014 when it received a new hood, grille, front end, and the old 4.0 liter V6 engine was dropped from the line-up, making the Tundra an entirely V8-powered range.

Trusted Workhorse

Look at the Toyota Tundra pics or the izmostock Toyota Tundra gallery, the vehicle still sets a standard as a workman’s truck, with its 4.6 liter V8 motor that pumps out 310 bhp. The engine comes mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. Buyers also get to choose between a regular or extended cab as well as a standard or long loading bed size.

The only unfortunate fact is that the Tundra returns the least fuel economy figures in its class. The 4.6L Tundra returns 15mpg (city) and 19mpg (highway) but the 5.7L model manages only 13mpg (city) and 17mpg (highway).

You can pick up the new Tundra in one of six trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition or the TRD Pro (which is powered by a larger 5.7 liter V8). While the Tundra can tow 6,800 pounds in its 4.6L guise, you could haul a maximum of 8,800 pounds if you have the larger 5.7L engine.

Toys? You’ve Got Plenty!

You get a ton of gadgets to play with when you step into the Toyota Tundra interior as well, including a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system, a sound system by JBL, 12-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated power adjustable wing mirrors, front seats that can be heated or cooled, dual zone automatic climate control, a privacy glass, bluetooth support, seats upholstered in perforated leather, and rear seats that split and fold in a 40:20:40 ratio, amongst others.

The passenger cabin of this truck is a very nice place to be in. A dual tone black and beige interior color scheme highlighted by silver accents lends the Toyota Tundra interior a premium look and feel. All the knobs and switchgear used in the Tundra feel built to last as well.

4 Stars Safe

This truck gets a 4 star rating for frontal impact and a 5 star rating for side impact from the NHTSA as it includes multiple airbags positioned throughout the passenger cabin, blind spot warning, a deck rail system that has 4 anchor points, ABS with EBD, an auto-dimming cabin mirror in the Toyota Tundra interior, a reversing camera, and much more.

In Conclusion

As seen from the Toyota Tundra pics, the 2017 Toyota Tundra is an excellent truck. It has the looks and presence, all the required gadgets, a choice of powerful engines and most importantly, it is backed up by Toyota’s legendary durability.
